Very handy for places where flash is prohibited. Uses ring-type USM for swift, silent autofocus and full-time manual focus.

ReviewsI do not know how Amazon allow this sort of thing to happen but at least half of these reviews relate to lenses other than the one featured.

Spot onBrought this as a lens that can stay on my camera majority fo the time, and it have proven spot on for this!
The IS got me mostly attracted to the lens, a shame it isn't f2.8, but when I get more money, then I'll buy an L lens for that!
The zoom does extend on its own sometimes when facing down, can be annoying, but not a primary issue with the lens.
Some people say the old IS is dated, well, after using both the old and new IS (on a L Lens), you can't tell that much difference! The viewfinder doesn't jump like some people say about this lens.
Overall I'm very pleased i got it, and as I said the IS is a great addition for it.

Worth the moneyThere are cheaper 135mm zoom lenses around but this one is very good and worth every hard earned penny. I bought this to supplement the 18-55mm lens that came with my Canon EOS400D but since fitting this lens to the body it has not yet been taken off. It's so good and perfect for all but the widest of wide angle shots usually needed.
The whole lens camera combination is weighty but not too heavy and the balance in just about right to enable one to hold the camera without fatigue or camera shake. It feels like a true quality combination.
Shots can be taken in suprisingly lowish light levels and the focus is clean, crisp and fast, just perfect for catching the kids candid style running around the garden or in the park without getting in their face, as the standard 18-55mm lens does, for frame filling face shots. Gone too is the close up facial distortion which tends to occur with the standard 18-55mm lens making the face appear fatter and far less flattering than this 135mm zoom does. Your subject will thank you for this. For me a good buy and the right buy a portrait lens at its best
Looks great too with the optional lens hood which also helps to stop some of the knocks and scrapes which can occur when moving around, the lens hood was another £20 but well spent as it didn't take long to hear the chilling clank as I touched a wall with the end of the lens while walking, the £20 hood saved my £280 lens from any harm.

good lensBought this lens as the standard lens that came with the canon 350D gave very poor results when used with a flash. This lens is vey good esp is low light conditions due to the OS.

Perfect everyday lensI purchased this lens to replace the kit lens on my 400D. It is perfect. Brilliant shots, IS is amazing, nice zoom range (about 5.5x), great for everyday use! No regrets!
