Bucketheads best work, but not for all
As a guitarist, like many I was more familiar with Bucketheads shredding guitar acrobatics and after buying one or two of his heavier albums I personally thought Bucket was a one tricky pony and wasn't a fan. br / br /However this album completely changed my opinion of him. Here Bucket takes a more traditional approach to songwriting with structure and melody as apposed to some of his other work consisting of random noises and strange rythmns. The songs on this album are beautiful and melodic, very laidback and atmospheric in places. While not lightspeed shred, the guitar playing is first class here. br / br /If you are familliar with, "Colma" or "Acoustic Shards" this album is similar but even better and even if you have never listened to Buckethead but enjoy relaxed, atmoshperic, instrumental guitar music, this is an album for you. Those who like "Cuckoo Clocks Of Hell" or "Crime Slunk Scene" may be dissapointed with this album, but if you want to appreciate another side of Buckets playing I recommend it.

Soulful, inspirational, a nice change!
As a buckethead fan im used to his frantic improv crazy fretwork kinda style, but this album shows a new side to his work. I personally found this very calming, relaxing, but not without the buckethead edge. It is one of my favorite albums he has released simply due to the greatness to which it differs from his others. br /However I can see how some people may find it a little repetetive in its approach, most of the songs are the same style but this is to be expected. All songs are based around the concept of the title 'Electric Tears' and i personally think all the songs suit their album perfectly. br /Well done Buckethead :)

Not too bad...
Before I bought this album I owned three other Buckethead titles. Giant Robot, Monsters And Robots and Colma. brThe thing that struck me most about this album was of course the fact that he had reverted back to the formula used on Colma. This is no bad thing, if you're a fan of Buckethead, guitar or mellow paced music I'm sure this album will apeal. brFrom a Buckethead fans point of view, it's probably not his best work, but it displays his diversity perfectly and opens up a new side this enigmatic character. Granted, if you've never heard Buckethead, or have only heard him play with Guns N' Roses, this probably isn't the best album to start off with. New comers are better seeking at the Monsters And Robots record, it's a lot easier to swallow and displays his formidible "shredding" and "tapping" techniques. Electric Tears, although not the best showcase of his skills is a fine example of what he can do with a guitar. From blues to flamenco to subtle volume swells, just because there are no vocals doesn't mean it's bad, it's a scaled down, chill out album.brAnyone into technical playing will love this, it also shows he can write a traditionally structured song as opposed to his contemporary, unorthadox methods employed on previous outings.brI'd recommend this album for guitarists wanting to hear fine guitar work, Buckethead fans who want to hear another side to his playing and anyone who enjoys relaxed music.

I shed "tears" of boredom
I bought this album, after seeing Buckethead playing with Guns n Roses on the MTV VMA's, thinking it would rock. I was so very wrong. This is without a doubt the worst CD I now own. It seems to be made up of the most boring, melancholy, dull music, I have ever encountered. It contains only a few good ideas, but they are very poorly executed. When the CD was over, I was left feeling a mix emotions. On the one hand I was just glad it was all over, and on the other hand I was just a little sad and mad at myself for buying this cr**.
