Amazon.co.uk Review
Amateur detectives everywhere, young and old alike will love the Nancy Drew Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake interactive mystery game. Produced by HER Interactive, it invites junior or senior detectives (players choose the level of difficulty) to embark on a mission to become Nancy Drew's eyes and ears, and help solve a mystery.

Players are taken to a dreamy summer cabin at Moon Lake and here the nightmare begins. Nancy is informed by the nearby lake's residents that a well-known gangster had lived here long ago with his pet dogs. Howls can be heard. The locals believe the dogs have come back from the grave to protect their master's villainous past. Are the legends true? Or is there a simpler explanation? What about the neighbours--are they telling the truth? What secrets might be lurking in the dark caverns beneath the lake? Don't waste time--you must find the answers before the hounds discover your presence.

Installation is quite straightforward, but as the game is aimed at children aged 10 years and above, it may need overseeing by a more competent adult. On completion, players are immediately invited to choose the level of difficulty and it is a particularly good idea to take advantage of the excellent tutorial session. Here you learn how to navigate, and explanations are also given about different mouse, cursor and arrow commands, with tips being offered about "Hot Spots" and how to view objects. Accompanying the CD-ROM is an excellent pamphlet dealing with all aspects of the game. The language is simple and straightforward and help can be accessed from the menu screen, where useful directions can be found.

Before commencing, it is recommended that you familiarise yourself with the Menu screen, particularly the Game Setup option which, on clicking, allows you to personalise the game in the way you prefer to play, changing options for voice, music, special effects, and closed captioning, which when switched on, makes written descriptions appear in the text window for sounds and noises. This is especially helpful as for some the written word, accompanied by the spoken word, is more helpful when absorbing instructions. --Susan Naylor

Manufacturer's Description
A friend’s frantic note sends Nancy on the trail of a mysterious pack of dogs, whose glowing eyes and mournful howls threaten to chase her and her friend away forever. Locals say that the dogs have come back from the grave to protect the secrets of their master, who died long ago and was buried next to his beloved dogs. Players, as Nancy Drew, must use their detective skills to track the history of Mike Malone, the notorious gangster who once lived in the lakeside cabin recently purchased by Nancy’s friend. Are the ghostly legends true, or is there a flesh and blood answer to the dogs’ haunting howls?

To solve the case Nancy ventures into the deep, dark woods surrounding the lake. Like a bird dog hot on a scent, she hunts down the history of Moon Lake and its residents in search of clues. Along the way she meets a variety of fascinating characters, all with something to hide. As Nancy flushes out secrets

Haunted Carousel
Several of the reviews on here are not for The Haunted Carousel but are for other Nancy Drew games.
My nine year old found this quite easy compared to other ND games and not as good as Treasure in the Royal Tower or Message in a Haunted Mansion. The Second Chance option is useful at the very end. Saving your game regularly is also recommended.

Great!
This game was enjoyable to play, and it was great to be able to travel around, whereas with some ther Nancy Drew games, you are stuck in one building. The only problem was that there was some kind of glitch with mine, I think this is rare as not many people seem to mention it, it meant that one part of the game was not possible to play, but there is a download from the her interactive website to solve it, and from then on it ran smoothly. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes a puzzle, and doesn't mind spending time on their games.

Okay but nothing special
I wasn't really into this game to be honest. It just didn't have that special ND magic that the other games I've played have.

It came across as being fairly basic with not a terribly strong story line and most of it I found quite dull. Some of the puzzles were good and there were some interesting surprises, but in general it just didn't do anything for me.

Enjoyed it
One of the better Nancy Drew games, in my opinion. Better put together than the earlier ones, with a nice set of characters.

Had some trouble working out how to get where around the lodge, and the woods themselves can be confusing to the point of irritation, but that may be the fault of my impatience rather than the programme.

Strangely enough, there doesn't seem to be much of a mystery to the storyline, which seems just to get in the way of some fun games.

But an enjoyable game and well put together.
