    How it works
The Rosetta Stone's Dynamic Immersion method works by simulating the natural language learning process we all experienced as children. No translation. No memorization. No drills or lists. With instruction exclusively in the target language, you start thinking in the new language from the very first lesson. The association of pictures, native speaker voices and texts allows you to master basic vocabulary quickly. And this in turn acts as a foundation on which to build words, phrases, sentences, and grammatical structures, still in the target language only.

Within each lesson, choose from a variety of different activities that concentrate on listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking or writing:

Dynamic Immersion teaches you to link speech directly with meaning. Match the spoken phrase and the image correctly and the meaning is clear. No translation or memorization. The words have meaning. The image has a name.

Reading comprehension parallels the comprehension of speech. The Rosetta Stone develops reading skills by presenting written text without spoken-language support. Match words to image and the computer verifies the meaning.

Speaking a new language is the learner's most rewarding challenge. Speech Recognition records your voice and plays it back for comparison with the voice of the native speaker. A graded meter quickly assesses your proficiency and a voiceprint analyzes your pronunciation in detail.Dictation uses the computer to check your written work for accuracy. Click on the picture. Write what you hear. The program indicates errors and allows you to correct your work before you proceed.

Expensive to be so simple method
It is very impressive method about first 10-15 times you are using it. Then you realise that method is fairly limited. After repeting almost similar thing (type voice and picture; guess which figure vi are talking about) hundreds of times with some variation, you start to get tired and would like to do something else. Maybe to buy some else japanese course like me!

    Expensive? No...
I have to admit I downloaded a pirate copy of this when I saw the price, but after testing the software I went out and bought it. The way you learn by looking at pictures and picking out the correct word really does improve your vocabulary 100 times better than any other language learning software I have used. It's well worth the money, maybe they should have a demo version so you can try it out first. But I would recommend buying a dictionary to go along with it, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars!

Rossetta Stone speak/ Japanese level 1+2
The cd is very easy to load no complicated instructions, and worked the first time. After skimming through the cd to see exactly what I had got for my money, I came to the conclusion it was worth every penny. Within one day I had learnt words and numbers, it is fun to do.As I am working through the cd I find it is getting harder to understand the words. But also challenging to decipher what they are. I think with time + effort,I will be able to at least speak + understand when I go to Japan next year. The only grumble I have with the whole package, is that there is no Japanese/English dictionary of words, to be able to look in, when the words you have already learnt, are in a longer sentence, you have to rely on the picture on screen. It is not that obvious what they are implying, this can be frustrating when you are trying to score on the test. But I presume the more you repeat the exercises the easier it gets. Overall I strongly recommend the cd/book set, it is certainly working for me. I hope the publishers read these reviews, because I think a dictionary is needed to go with the set. Thanks for reading this.
