Editorial reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Erick Sermon was half of legendary rap duo EPMD in the late 80s and early 90s, but as a solo artist he's been relegated to the sidelines by a new generation of hip-hop big hitters. In iReact/i, his fourth album, he makes it plain that he's not happy about the situation. Elevating his already considerable boasting to Olympian standards, he argues on "We Don't Care" that's he's easily Michael Jackson, R Kelly, Missy Elliott and Jay-Z rolled into one. While this clearly isn't true, IReact/I should earn him a good deal of the respect he craves. p There are few surprises; for the most part he's still professing his brilliance to a suitably gritty collection of mid-90s ghetto funk and dogmatic RB. But the circular grind of "Here I Iz" and "We Don't Care" is undeniably hypnotic, and "Hip Hop Radio", with its solemn march and warning against holding gun-toting rappers up as heroes, is surprisingly touching. And when he does stretch his imagination, as with the vintage smoulder of the Al Green duet "Love Iz" or the Timbaland-like Indian strut of single "React", he is unshakably brilliant. Overall, IReact/I might not have Jay-Z quaking in his Timberlands, but evidently a Sermon comeback isn't totally out of the question. --IDan Gennoe/I

Erick Sermon - React
E-dub aka Erick Sermon the Def squads/Epmd's main man. React is the producer/rapper latest and greatest album to date and his others are all off the hook so this album says alot. This album has all the elements to do big things. This album also's features other Def squad members Redman and Keith Murray. With the hip hop anthem that is React. other great tracks such as love iz which features the soulful voice of al green, Hold up dub ft keith murray and to The girlz which is his message to all the ladies. This essential hip hop purchase of 2003.
