If you're not able to own a real pet, especially a Cat or a Dog then ICatz 5/I could be the answer! Adopt a virtual pet, let it live in your PC, run across your Desktop, let it visit faraway Playscenes or play at home in the kitchen, backyard or salon, or create your own tailor-made Playscenes. p You can feed it, play with it, love it and breed it. Adopt as many as you like, but you must take care of them all--neglected Catz run away and then you're in trouble. Did you know Catz have tails to help them balance? That their fur is soft to keep them warm and encourage owners to pet them? They have large, expressive eyes, twitching whiskers and they have agile paws for jumping, climbing, stalking and running. Catz are little kittens when you first adopt them and then they grow up over time into adult Catz. p Although aimed at young children, this package is most beneficial if they can read, in order for them to follow on-screen directions. This program is therefore most suitable for a minimum age of 7-8 years. Installation takes a while, and help may be needed from adults as monitor settings may need to be adjusted, and it's necessary to make sure Acrobat Reader 5.0 is installed so that the excellent User Guide can be accessed. It is absolutely essential to study this before playing with ICatz 5/I and it is a good idea to print it out for easy access. The excellent manual makes it easy for children to understand the package. p Now comes the fun! Choose from one of 15 breeds of Catz, from Alley Catz to Tabbies, from Persians to Siamese, with all their different personalities, likes and dislikes--but don't adopt too many, as they all have to be exercised, fed, loved, medicated when sick, brushed, played with, rewarded for good behaviour and squirted with water when they misbehave. Train them to do tricks, and allow them to earn toys as rewards (balls, pillows, stuffed parrots and so on). If you become confused remember to click on the Help Menu Bar. p Included is a Web Fun Pack, containing Petz clipart, animations and backgrounds, all Internet-ready to enable you to create your own Web pages. This particular version contains new features, but owners of previous Catz can bring their adopted Petz into ICatz 5/I. This is compatible with IDogz 5/I, allowing your Dogz and Catz to play together, to create more breeds, win more toys and, ultimately, have more fun. --ISusan Naylor/I

Read this before buying the game!
I got the game may 23 and was so excited to play it that night. I played until 10 and got every item there was in my bag, had 4 animals and got addicted to the game. Then at 6 I woke up and I went straight to the computer. (By the way, I have Windows 2000 which is able to have petz 5 played on it) When I double clicked on the icon It loaded halfway then a message saying something like you don't have enough memory, the game is out of memor and it said I need one billion and something bytes. that makes NO SENSE! so I deleted some program up to 800 MB. (Which is a lot more than the space the game needs.) Then I tried again and it still wouldn't work. Then I restarted the computer and it still didn't work. Then at 4:30 I tried again and it STILL didn't work. Something is wrong with this game so don't buy it. Oh and it didn't occur one week after I had it, it occured Overnight and the PC was off. You should know this.

The kids love it
There are no real challenges or objective in this game and as such, it's great for anybody who doesn't have the computer gene.pHowever, with no challenges or objectives the 'game' is not really a game, more of a toy. As such, it's best for people with an imagination, who can entertain themselves.pIn response to an earlier review, this game does not contain viruses. No commercially released game contains viruses. It works as intended on the vast majority of computers otherwise it would not be on sale.

Perfect feline friends
I've had this game for several months and loved it. Then I installed the XP SP2 and sound no longer worked. This is the only major bug that I have encountered with the game, I would like to note that a programming bug is different from a virus. This game contains no viruses. brVery dissapointed at not finding a solution to this bug I put the game to one side. Now thanks to the internet I've finally found a solution:p"The solution is easy, go to your Petz 5 installation folder and rename setupapi.dll to something like setupapi.bak - Petz 5 will now load without any problems."pThis solved my sound problem and I can now play with my feline friends once again. pCatz is a wonderful game that provides a welcome desktop distraction even for grown up players. It doubles as a screensaver where you favourite feline critters wander around the screen playing with their favourite toys. brThere is also a good selection of fan sites with pictures, info and even some unusual characters that you can download and put into your own game. brThe game itself comes with a program that helps you put together a simple web page complete with pictures, about your favourite pet so all you have to do is upload the files to some free webspace and you can share your pets with the world. pYou won't want to sit for hours playing but you don't have to. This is light hearted fun that acts much like a desktop toy providing a few minutes of distraction in your day. pSimply purrrfect!

The wonderful game of Catz 5
Catz 5 is the most fun game i have ever played where you get to look after your own catz.They can have up to four kittens which can have funny genes!One time I put together a russian blue with a B W shorthair and their kittens looked so funny!brI absolutly love this game!brI give it a 10/10!

I love it - but full of viruses
This is a really good game and better than the other Catz and Dogz. I used to have Catz 3,4,5 and Dogs 3,4,5 but ever since getting Windows XP none of them have worked. Catz and Dogz 5 are full of viruses which have come up on every computer. They will work for about a week and then I get a message saying an unexpected error has occured. It has happened on every computer I've owned, not just XP but Windows 2000 and 98 aswell and on my friends computer too. Dogz 5 has more viruses than Catz but both of them are unfixable. pDon't buy it.
