Amazon.co.uk ReviewWhat
Highway to Hell has that
Back in Black doesn't is Bon Scott, AC / DC's original lead singer who died just months after this album was released. Scott had a rusty, raspy, scream of a voice, like he might break into a coughing fit at any moment. In other words, on crunchy, hook-heavy metal classics like the title track and on "Get It Hot" which is more roadhouse rock than metal, he had the perfect instrument for such wild-living anthems. Too perfect, it turned out.

DescriptionIt will always be a mystery how a grown man can spend his life wearing a school tie and short pants and receive adulation from the heavy metal fraternity. HM followers do not tolerate a cissy, yet the hugely talented Angus Young has becomesomething of a hero. His riff-laden fills, combined with the tough vocals of the late Bon Scott, made AC/DC one of the genre's all-time leading lights. Bordering on the lighter side of metal, songs such as 'Love Hungry Man', 'Touch Too Much' and the title track will always delight.

Rock at its best.Too many people forget how long ago this album was made. There were no fancy studio tricks, or equipment from NASA to make bands sound better. THIS IS ROCK AND ROLL AT ITS BEST. What a shame Bon died how good could they have they become. Good old fashioned rock. Never been bettered, never been challenged. AWESOME.....

Top of the Rock!!!Back in the days where LP's ruled, I used to rate the LP's by giving the numbers points from 1 (low) to 5 (high) divided with the number of numbers for each record I owned and somehow this LP always came #1 in front of Thin Lizzy, UFO, Saxon and Scorpions.
There is never a dull moment on this record and you simply have to have it in your CD collection!
It is still the CD I pick on the shelf if I want to listen to AC/DC!!!!
Bon Scott did some amazing lyrics and I must say AC/DC isn't the same without him!

Great all roundHere's a challenge. Put this CD on, skip to track three, if you don't start tapping your feet AT THE VERY LEAST to the insane boogie of Walk all over You by about 2 and a half minutes, I would question your mortality.
Is is the best ACDC album? Probably
Is this the best hard rock album of all time? Possibly
Great tracks from start to finish, ACDC are as tight as they come. The digital remaster is great and crystal clear with the simple, no frills sound courtesy of production supremo Mutt Lange who, humbly has said on record that he simply put Angus through one channel and Malcolm through the other! What a master stroke!
The downside, and there is one, is that my car speakers have started banging after repeated playing of this must have album. Oh well.... or is it Beatin around the Bush?

to all you love hungry men..This is where it all began and this is where it all ends..
You can pick any of the Bon Scott 'DC era albums, cos they're
all pretty much as good as each other, but Highway To
Hell put them on the map.
If you're new to rock music or just coming of age or even trying to
remember how it is to not care..then this album is your best mate.
If you absorb these songs and still can't score with a chick, or be
the-man-about-town then nothing can. Bon will hold your hand and show
you around, show you how easy it really is, to be rock n roll.
Tales of sexual fantasies, fightin, rockin, drinkin and gettin
lost along the way, all dressed up in an utterly groove-laden classic
hard rock beat..you'd have to be too boring to not "get it".

Their best ever ... the best "heavy" rock album ever ?This really is a superb album.
Every single track is a belter. It must be a contender,if not the holder, for title of "Most Complete Rock Album Ever"
"Back In Black" might be one of the world's best ever sellers (& it is in many ways a quality record) but I feel that it comes in second best to this masterpiece.
The vocals from Bon Scott, the guitar work, the bass lines, the drums, all combine to make a record of iconic genius.
If you only ever bought one "heavy" rock album, it would surely (?) be this - not a single duff track - incredible quality all the way through.
Every song is upbeat & plenty of them have that hint of smut, humour & mischief which Scott seemed to carry off so well in his vocals.
AC/DC may not be everyones cup of tea, they might be seen as old hat by some but this record sets all kinds of quality "benchmarks", with regards heavy rock (not least, make a record that sounds like you're having a great time & make it sound like you don't take yourselves too seriously !!).
There are certain bands around today who would kill to make a rock album even approaching this good - accept no imitations.A pure, 100% classic.
