Amazon.co.uk Review
You won't need a bottle of rum to enjoy IPirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl/I, even if you haven't experienced the Disneyland theme-park ride that inspired it. There's a galleon's worth of fun in watching Johnny Depp's androgynous performance as Captain Jack Sparrow, a roguish pirate who could pass for the illegitimate spawn of rockers Keith Richards and Chrissie Hynde. Depp gets all the good lines and steals the show, recruiting Orlando Bloom (a blacksmith and expert swordsman) and Keira Knightley (a lovely governor's daughter). They set out on an adventurous quest to recapture the notorious Black Pearl, a ghost ship commandeered by Jack's nemesis Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), a mutineer desperate to reverse the curse that left him and his (literally) skeleton crew in a state of eternal, undead damnation. Director Gore Verbinski (IThe Ring/I) repeats the redundant mayhem that marred his debut film IMouse Hunt/I, but with the writers of IShrek/I he's made IPirates of the Caribbean/I into a special-effects thrill-ride that plays like a Halloween party on the open seas. I--Jeff Shannon/I

2 hours of fun, action and special effects as good as they can get
I liked this film mainly because of the action sequences and the special effects and photography. The story isn't particularly interesting but it never becomes boring.Disney have made films with better stories than this but neither they or anyone else has surpassed the special effects you'll see here. The bonus features are as good as the main feature and apart from interviews with cast and production staff you get to see things such as the journey of the ship "Lady Washington" ( a real old ship that was used in the film )on its way from california through the panama canal to the caribbean island of St Vincent where filming took place. This ship got caught in a real life storm and badly damaged on its way to the film set. br /There are lots of extra features on the disc that you can look at on a computer too.

The best film in the world!!!
I have to say, this is my most favourite film of all time! The acting is excellent, the CGI is fantastic, and, the storyline is just incredible!!! br /This has to be the best film Gore Verbinski has directed in his whole career, as he used some imagination, and turned a simple idea of pirates kidnapping the govenors daughter, into the pirates being cursed as well!! br /This film has everything you want in a action movie. It has fights, humour, and, main of all, Capt. Jack Sparrow. He's such a ledgend!! br /Overall, this film is just brilliant, and, you MUST buy it today, otherwise you'll get a curse yourself, for not buying the best film ever made in motion picture history!!!
