"I swear by my leather jacket and by rock and roll that I love you"
I was gutted when I found out that Guitar Wolf's bassplayer, Bass Wolf died two years ago. Anyone who doesn't like this has had a sense of humour amputation. What is not to like? The rockabilly thugs! The gormless hero! The japanese Steve Buscemi! The zombies! The amount of times you see fire, drinking, guns, or someone yelling "ROCK AND ROLL!" The charming oldfashioned-ness of it. Ah, I love this movie and I think for all the right reasons. Altogether now: ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!

Absurdly wonderful!
As the title states, this movie is absurdly wonderful! Just when you thought it couldn't get any goofier, guess again! Sit around with a bunch of friends and watch this. You will laugh heartily and loud at the stupid-and-pointless zombie movie.

At Last, a Zombie movie with real Rock!!
If you are like me and have always lamented the lack of Rock 'n' Roll in your Zombie movies, then this movie cures all that. The hero is your actual, guitar and gun toting, rock star, with his own band and cool is just not adequate to describe it all. It's a rock, horror, action, love story with some classic posing and a range of weird characters, that live in the memory long after the film has finished.
Despite it being Japanese and somewhat incomprehensible at times, this only adds to the film's magic.
The end scene with the guitar deserves legendary cult status and I will not spoil it for you here but what a magnificent novel and impressive way to use your guitar to end a movie.
A very cool movie. Buy or rent and love it. Rock 'n' Roll!

the most amazing rubbish!
I watched this movie with a beer in my hand and mustard covered cocktail sausages in my mouth, and I'm sure this made it all better. Yes, it's badly made and doesn't seem to make sense, but that doesn't matter! The main character "Ace"'s devotion to "Rock 'n' Roll" only makes it funnier! It's a totally cool movie, don't be put off by the fact thats you have to read all the Japanese subtitles, it's a great film!

yawn of the dead
think this films gonna be like dawn of the dead or any other GOOD zombie film?... think again!
this is weird with a capital eh?, and the exploding zombie heads aren't the only mush in this dire japanese nonsense.
the only thing more rotten than the zombies is the plot!

it's hard to know whats going on at times, with ufo's flying over head and magic powers in the mix (lasers out of the eyes.. what's that all about!)

the special effects at times are very good, with convincing squelchy zombie fodder and more head shots than a photo booth.

the zombies wander around aimlessly until they get a sniff of human flesh then they're all over you like a badly painted rash,
although the zombie acting is surprisingly good for a change emulating the good old zombie films of george romero.

i give this one zombie limb out of five!
