Amazon.co.uk ReviewThe gruesome details surrounding Tupac's third solo offering are enough to give any music fan the willies. Released when Tupac was in jail serving time for a rape conviction and just after his recovery from being shot-up gangland-style at a recording studio, this was his most introspective piece of work to date. The heavy-hearted album opens up with a radio commentary describing the circumstances surrounding his shooting, and then plunges headfirst into Pac's infatuation with death. "So Many Tears", "Death Around the Corner" and "If I Die 2Nite" are all dark, eerily prophetic tunes that lend credence to widespread theories which suggest that Pac anticipated his impending death. The perpetually thugged-out wonder reveals a more benevolent side when it comes to gender and family issues. On "Dear Mama"--a fitting tribute to his mother recorded in the "Keep Ya Head Up" vein--Pac takes listeners into the loving recesses of his heart, while on "Can U Get Away", he echoes similar respectful sentiments to black womynkind. This is probably 'Pac's most progressive issues-oriented release before he signed to Death Row and became a full-blown thug. --IDalton Higgins/I

His Best Album by a country mileAs a real fan who owns all the great man's works, I would say that this album was his greatest without doubt. It was emotional, deep and philosophical. It was not a gangsta rap album for the mere purpose of being gangsta but it had a message to the lyrics.

Debatably 2Pac's best albumThis is personally my favourite 2Pac album. There's not one song to skip and the tracks flow from emotion to emotion. He really bears his soul on this album and expresses all sides of his personality; anger, intelligence and of course therefore contradiction. There's also an unnatural obsession with death but hey, if i'd just been shot in the head I guess i'd be pretty angry and worried about the world. Still, it contains one of the most beautiful rap songs ever written IMO, 'Dear Mama'. Wonder if 50 Cent is gonna write a song like that for his next album?! Looking at rap now it seems unbelievable that 2Pac was the mainstream back in 95/96. How rap has changed.

amazingThis album is simply amazing, deep, thoughtful and brilliantly produced. I personally think this album is his best, its also my favourite hip/hop album. The stand out tracks for me are, " can u get away" "dear mama" "me against the world" "lord knows" and "it aint easy". As well as dark tracks on the album such as "so many tears" and "death around the corner" there are laid back beats like "it aint easy" and "old school" to deep beats like "dear mama". But all in all i think this is one of hip/hops most finest albums and is worthy in many hip/hop heads music collection, i think even if you dont like hip/hop this album deserves a listen. R.I.P Tupac
