Tedious, yet with some enjoyable elements...I think...Campaign ONLY
As many will already know before purchasing this latest Doom opus, the graphics are quite impressive. Yet as most avid gamers will declare, it is the gameplay that truly matters most and to be brutally honest, I found this game to be lacking in many aspects...

An unoriginal plot with concepts snatched from various films and games, what kept me playing until the dissapointing end was merely the hope that things would get better, or even progress at all! Under the veil of nice graphics and impressive lighting effects one cannot help but see the game as a blatant rip-off with its Resident Evil suspense, carbon-copy of Half-life's storyline (if only a little fuzzy around the edges) and a vaguely interesting 'messaging' system where one can read emails of the desceased and occasionally waste 2 minutes watching a pointless video the size of a postage stamp.

Add to this the fact that most of the game you will spend with your character carrying only a flashlight - having to frantically switch back to your gun when a demon rears its fugly head - and then the action is all over within seconds and you'll spend the next five minutes walking through dark tunnels with your flashlight listening to the occasional scream or flicker of light until they do no more to excite your senses and raise the hackles on your neck than would being slapped in the face with a wet lettice leaf.

The most fun I had with this game was not running round in the dark looking for the correct switch to activate a lift, nor reading endless amounts of 'e-mails' to find codes to the safty lockers...It came when I picked up my first chainsaw. But of course, the novelty wore off after sawing up the first demon...Ok, to be fair, maybe the second...

Not a game worth playing through a second time as there wasn't even enough to really keep me playing the first time around save the hope of more to come...Alas, now that I know the dissapointing truth those pretty graphics have lost their appeal...

I can only hope that multiplayer and net play have more to offer...Much more...But I dont know if I will ever be bothered enough to find out.

Save your money, buy some southern fried chicken and get yourself a glass of the white stuff to dip 'em in. It will be a lot scarier, more intense and ultimately thrilling experience.

DOOM!!!!
Survival horror with action. Picture walking on a blood stained floor, three bullets in the handgun, you must leave the comfortable station room and get to the otherside and lock that wide open door, you leave getting closer to that gapping void beyond the door, then... groaning noises and a foot scrapping closer, you can see an outline, taking careful aim... then out with the lights and deafening laughter, the room is now lit soley in satanic fiery glowing symbols and centre stage a porthole with intruders from another demension! and great game to play in the dark! I just really liked this game so much. I can't say enough gud things about it, great great great!. The most terrifying version of hell I got to witness!!! Buy the board game aswell :D

One of the scariest games I have ever played
There aren't that many games that genuinely scare me, this is definitely one of them. The only problem with this and other scary games is that I will only play them late at night with the lights off and through the headphones connected to my stereo, I feel to not play them in this way is a complete waste of time.

Some people say that this game is boring and unoriginal but I really couldn't care less. The gameplay is great and it scares the hell out of me and that is what it is supposed to do. The lighting and sound effects are as good as any I have ever seen and heard in a game, the music and graphics are also excellent which is a bonus and the monsters are horrific, some make my skin crawl just thinking about them. I also find those voice recordings that you find on dead people extremely creepy, this definitely adds to the atmosphere and so does the isolation.

The only thing that I hate about this game is not being able to have your torch on at the same time as when you use your weapons, I am not sure if this was to make it more scary or not but in my opinion it would not be any less scary if you could have it on all the time and so I find this totally pointless.

All in all, if you like first person shooters and don't mind been scared to death then this is a game you really shouldn't be without.

Hell Is Broken Loose In The Dimension Of Doom! The Ultimate Horror Game Is Here!!
This is the XBox Version of the Doom 3 series! This is a sequel towards the Doom Collection, but the XBox Version has differences towards the PC Version Doom 3!

I remember a couple of years ago one of my friends kept on talking about the 3rd Doom game, which was eventually going to be released for the PC! He always bragged me on about this game from the beginning day when he heard about it, till the day he got it. And when he did get it, he must have gone over the moon with the game, wearing out his mouse, computer and all.
Couldn't exactly complain as when I went round to his place to check out the game for myself, I thought "Bloody Hell" (excuse my language), that is one hell of a wicked game, and the graphics look real!

Anyways, when we went for our holiday in August 2006, I encountered this game for the XBox on offer for about £15, so I thought great, a chance for me to try out the most scariest, violent, horror game I knew to date, so I got the game. Didn't really have chance to play it then, but in the beginning months of this year, I played it a couple of times, and then carried on frequently until I finished the game!

In Doom 3, you play as a male marine whom was summoned to work with the UAC on Planet Mars. You head along and meet Sergeant Kelly, and he will ask you to head down the Communications Facility to grab a member of the science team who went missing for a long period of time. When you reach down the area you are given a Pistol, and a Flashlight and then you will eventually meet the science team member. He then watches a shocking video on the computer screen where Hell is broken loose at the Delta Labs and then these Evil Souls are taking human souls and replacing them with evil, turning them into Zombie creatures and dead! That's where it all happens...

Your well and truly one hit wonder mission is to travel and survive throughout the UAC facility and try and locate help, before the Demons attempt to destroy both Planet Mars and Earth. Using you're First Person Shooter ability, you must run, sprint, duck and shoot you're way through loads of unreal, un-dead creatures to survive and succeed you're missions. Loads of demons will await you, but a load of weapons will give you a helping hand. A couple of which are the Shotgun, Machinegun, Chaingun, Plasma Gun & the extremely deadly BFG9000! As you progress, a special weapon will meet you once you've travelled the Hell Dimension. It is called the "Soul Cube"!

The XBox Version contains 40 Levels to play through and an online feature, which allows you to play multiplayer over a internet connection, or enable 2 people to co-operate in a single player career! The levels on the XBox are slightly short and less as the engine on the XBox is not as powerful as the Personal Computer, but the game's legacy is large as the levels do give you a heck of a challenge for you to do!

My Grade For The Gadget: 9.5/10: Not To Shabby, Not To Evil, But Very Good

My Wish: I would love to see this game released on the XBox 360 Console! With the XBox 360, ID Software would have the ability to create the game with far more intensive graphics and action than what the XBox does!

Final Comments: Here's my advice, if you're seeking a first person shooter game with pure, evil horror and violence then I recommend Doom 3 for you're collection. If you want something more relaxing and not scary, then Doom 3 I think won't be you're cup of tea. The decision is yours!!
