Events Occur In Real TimeOut of the first four seasons of '24', I think the first two are slightly superior to seasons 3 and 4, making THIS the boxset definitely worth owning.
Do it, dammit!

24 box setthis has got to be the greatest show i have ever watched! as soon as it arrived i watched almost the whole of season 1 in a day! i was so captivated by it.
the characters are amazing and most of the men very goodlooking i have to admit i have a weak spot for jack bauer (kiefer sutherland) and tony almedia (carlos bernard) i would reccomend this show very highly to everyone and hope they enjoy it as much as i have.........and still do i can watch these any time day or night and still enjoy them as much as the very first time! season 3 is amazing and i am going to buy it as soon as it comes out, and look forward to watching it without all the adverts!

The worst day of Bauers life, and the second oneThe Americans do TV so much better than the UK. In 2001 they showed us how good they can be with shows like The Sopranos, the West Wing, Six feet Under and 24. All Britain can offer is the embarassing Spooks or Soldier Soldier.
Series 1 of 24 is all about tension, it builds slowly and plays out with a real sense of menace occasionally bursting into frantic gunplay and explosive set pieces.
A threat is made against a balck presidential candidates life and Jack Bauer is called away from a chess game to see whats going on. Coincidence of coincidences on the same night, his daughter goes missing giving Kiefer Sutherland the chance to play the most stressed out character in television history. He sweats, jitters, over zelously blinks and shoots his way through the longest day of his life, perfectly conveying tension with every fibre of his existence. Great performances come from Dennis (David Palmer) Haysbert and Sarah (Nina Myers) Clark in both seasons but Jack always steals the show.
Season 2 is a very different animal. Where Day 1 is all about building tension Day 2 is a non stop action packed thrill ride with Jack suddenly turning into a machiavallian monster who will do anything and everything to save LA from nuke wielding terrorists. It's bizzare, unrealistic and a lot of fun. Although the two days are different in style they're both essential viewing and Season 2 comes with some great commentaries, making of's and extended scenes including Jack fighting with a really tall guy. The box looks great in your collection too.

24 hour addictionI defy anyone purchasing this boxed set DVD of '24' to limit themselves to watching just one episode in one viewing. Each episode leaves you wanting more. I recommend at least a one week break after watching series 1 before starting on series 2. After all, you have to go to bed at a reasonable hour sometime. Buy it and be prepared for some late nights.

24 Hours revisitedEssentially if you are a fan then the clarity of the dvd's will only enhance your opinion.
To revisit the first chapter and to be reminded of the plane scene, only serves to want more.
It is the realisation that there are another 23 to go stops the viewer from becoming a social hermit.
I cannot wait until the shorter winter days.
Although the whole family viewed the series, this is my treat!
Lucky USA, they start the third series on the 28th October!
