Nothing less than brilliant
The first Blue October song I ever heard was the first track on this album: Ugly Side. Find the live video for it somewhere if you want to see exactly why this band is so awesome. br / br /Not since Pearl Jam's 'Ten' has an album stirred so much emotion in me, it's just that good. There are so many stand-out tracks that the only one which doesn't stand out is the second track, Clumsy Card House - it just seems slightly insipid compared to the rest of the album. br /The harrowing 'Razorblade' is a true testament to Justin Furstenfeld's songwriting genius - he shares his deepest emotions with the listener, something which is sadly lacking from so much music these days. br / br /The album is tender, fraught, sad and at times horrifying in its subject matter, but that just adds to its brilliance. br / br /I have no idea why it's so costly: I imagine it is possibly out of print or has some rights issues associated with it. Regardless, do yourself a favour and buy this one, if no others by the band (with the possible exception of Foiled, which is perhaps only slightly less impressive). br / br /Genre? I'd say alternative, although modern classification is massively diverse, and would probably push it more easily into post-grunge or rock. Similar (sort of) to REM, The Arcade Fire and Radiohead. br / br /Next to the abovementioned Pearl Jam's 'Ten', Faith No More's 'Angel Dust' and MCR's 'The Black Parade', this is easily one of my favourite albums.

Exceptional
Quite simply one of the best bands to emerge this decade. br / br /"History For Sale" is faultless from start to finish, with no let up in quality over it's 14 tracks! br / br /Blue October are an extremely tallented, passionate guitar driven rock band, who enjoy an exceptional bond with their growing audience. The scope and versatility of their music is striking. br / br /A bit like Radiohead before they developed a phobia for guitars. br / br /Few bands on the current scene come close to Blue October, particularly here in the UK.

Love it
This album is, in my opinion, pretty amazing. If you have found it, buy it. I cannot liken it to another artist, but the Blue October guys have made an original, passionate album. The songs are not all about love, they are about other issues as well, and it's a very good CD to sit and listen to whilst on a bus. My favourite songs are Clumsy Card House, Calling You, Chameleon Boy and Amazing (which is very heartfelt, and indeed, amazing). Listen to a preview of this CD, then buy it.
