For Britney Spears, IIn the Zone/I is more than just her fourth album; it's a pivotal moment which could decide the length of the rest of her career. Having literally outgrown the role of teen sensation, she now has to prove she's got what it takes to grow up and fulfil her Madonna-sized ambition. Adulthood calls for adult themes, and for Britney that means sex--and lots of it. In a staggering about-face, IIn the Zone/I takes her from vestal virgin to hyper-sophisticated nymphomaniac. The saucy Arabian shimmy and quietly euphoric chorus of "Toxic" has her delirious with carnal delight, "Showdown" is steamy cyber-funk lesson in how to tease, while "Touch of My Hand" is a none-to-discreet celebration of solo stimulation, with Britney purring to a swimming groove "I love myself, it's not a sin". Like single "Me Against the Music", featuring Madonna at her corruptive best, it's all a long way from the cute Britney of old, and if not as instantly catchy, her new direction is deceptively addictive. Less sensational RB fillers and a couple of slushy ballads aside, she's made the jump with style and grace, and it looks like Ms Spears could be with us for some time yet. I--Dan Gennoe/I

BRILLIANT
An amazing buy. Any britney fan should have this. my favourite songs are (Ive got that) Boom Boom, Touch of my hand, the hook up, the answer and dont hang up! br /there is nothing more to say-just get the album, well worth the money.

Britney's strongest album to date! That includes 'Circus'!
Alot of people who have reviewed this have said it is basically a whole bunch of tracks thrown together. I couldn't disagree more! This is the most carefully thought through album Spears has done to date (and that includes her most recent album 'Circus'). br / br /All but one track follow the same theme, of a more adult version of the pop-princess we have grown to love. That one track is Brave New Girl. As fantastic this song is, it would be much better be suited on her previous album Britney. If The Answer was put in place of the track, it would make a 5/5 album a 6/5. br / br /Admittidly, you do have to play the entire album numerous times to fully appreciate the full quality, but don't go buying this expecting anything like her first three albums.

I love it - but not her best
I have all of Britneys albums and have reviewed all of them. This is the only album I have given 4 stars by Britney. The songs are still great but this is her worst. Only three songs (Toxic, Everytime, I've Just Begun) are on my favourites of Britney. br / br /Still a great album, but not her best in my opinion.

A Beautiful Britney Album
In the Zone(2003) continues the trend that the previous Britney(2001)with a darker more hip trend, In The Zone takes that awesomeness to the next level, some fans feel mixed about her decisions for the album but i am more than happy with it and just plain love it...while it isn't quite Britney(2001) it is so very addictive. br /Me Against the Music may not have been a great decision for the debut single from the album...but this duet with Brit and Madge is very catchy and really very exciting and sensual but not quite perfect, nevertheless it is a great song even today in 2008. br /Boom Boom is a weak track and really the only song i skip. br /Showdown/Early Mornin' and Shadow are really genuinely brilliant tracks...Shadow in particular should have had single status. br /Toxic...do i really need to explain why i love it. br /Everytime is another stunner and extremely epic ballad while remaining her best single(until Womanizer and the awesome Circus album strutted its styuff this week). br /all in all In The Zone is her most adult and mature offering of her early years and remains to this day catchy, beautiful and bewildering and the best song about masturbation(Touch of My Hand) since Cyndi Lauper's She Bop. br /Blackout continues this trend with a massive dance orientated vibe...and Circus,well it's her greatest album yet and my fave album ever since MJ's THRILLER!! br /In The Zone is very very inspiring and creative in its lyrical structure and remains to this day a great album only beaten by its predecessor (Britney) and the following Blackout and (#1 greatest album) Circus. br /9/10 br /

Hit Factory!
Possibly some of Britneys finest work on this album. Every track bar 3, on this record has massive single potential. Toxic, a Grammy award winning Uk #1 single, written by Cathy Dennis, will go down in history as one of the most infectious songs in the world of pop. Me Against the Music, will always be remembered as one of the biggest collaborations in the history of pop music, seeing the Queen of pop Madonna teaming up with Britney, the Princess of pop. And we have everytime, another #1 in the UK, and a raw example of how stunning Britney's voice is when stripped back. The 3 songs i refered to earlier that maybe could not be singles are, 'Breathe on Me', 'Touch of my Hand' and 'Early Mornin', and the only reason i say this is because they maybe aren't exciting enough. However, they are all stunning songs in themselves, and add a really raw feeling on the album. An album suited to anyone who wants a good time!
