Amazon.co.uk ReviewRanking just behind the best of animator Don Bluth's films (IAnastasia/I and IThe Secret of NIMH/I), IThumbelina/I is a bubble-light version of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale. The finger-sized heroine goes about the old-fashioned trials of trying to find a good man, but the film is clever enough to make it endearing for the 3-6 set and more than passable for adult viewers. Barry Manilow provides much of the song score, which helps immensely. The ballad "Let Me Be Your Wings" is as good as Disney's best. Carol Channing and Charo have a good ol' time with their songs too. The voice of Thumbelina is none other than Jodi Benson, who gave voice to Ariel in Disney's IThe Little Mermaid/I. --IDoug Thomas, Amazon.com/I

Family FavouriteI LOVE this film, and so do the rest of my family. So much so that when I lent it to my cousins about 5 years ago I haven't got it back since! One of my cousins who's 3 watches it every day.brThe songs are excellent; my whole family, and most of my friends (who were made to watch it) have all seen it so many times we can sing along.brIf you like kids films and/or musicals you will love this film!

Kids love itI find this story a bit long winded and tame. The songs are quite good though. My kids don't agree with me, they think it's fantastic and will watch it all the way through. My eldest daughter even cried at the end. So as it's a childrens dvd, it must be good to hold there attention.

BeautifulI enjoyed this adaptation very much. The book has been a favourite , and the thing I liked best about this adaptation is that it does not jar with my memories of the book at all. The feeling of enjoyment and pleasure was almost the same. Those changes which are made are minimal, and the photografy excellent. I would recommend this film to anyone who has ever loved the tale.
