FLASHING FISTS OF FURY!!
7 Grand Masters is a definate must see. With a title like that you can't go wrong. Director Joseph Kuo was one of the pioneers in '70's Kung Fu flicks, but unfortunately one of the most ( in my opinion ) unappreciated. He does a great job of blending in the cliches of corny humor, fantastic fight scenes, directing and cinematography to give that authentic 1970's feel. Definately for late night viewing with a bunch of your friends, sit back and relax whilst watching this action movie. It's a great ride. The story itself is a cliche ( a guy who wants to become the student in the baddest fight style ever to avenge some past infraction of a loved one, betrayal, dishonour, triumph ) but Director Kuo manages to sustain the audiences attention with the fights, story and character development that most other Kung Fu flicks fail to do. And instead just play for laughs. The ending of this movie is also very clever, just when you think it's over, there's another bad guy around the corner, and when the master and pupil team up together, you can't help but think it kinda reminds you of Drunken Master (awsome, awsome mnovie ). Definately one of the best old school Kung Fu movies around. Trust me, you'll get your moneys worth, especially now as they're releasing it with another film called Eagles Claw as part of a Kung Fu Jade Screen double bill. And this other film is equally as good. The opening scene alone, with that cracking piece of score warrants it to be re-made. Anyway, enough talk...go see this film!!
