Never Failed
I must have pulled hundreds of corks with this great machine now and have never had a problem.
My previous plastic version cracked under the strain, but the metal version has been 100% reliable with all types of stopper, whether cork or synthetic.
And I still have not needed to use the reserve screw.
I can only suggest that anyone who has a problem uses the foil cutter first?

Hasn't failed me once.
Superb corkscrew, beautifully made - the moment you pick it up you can tell it is a quality product. Every single bottle has been a delight to open. No problems with synthetic corks at all. This is very good value for money and makes an excellent Christmas or birthday gift.

Worth Every Penny
This corkscrew removes the cork from any standard bottle of wine in less than 3 seconds, then removes the cork from the screw in 2 seconds. Doesn't matter what the cork is made of and no need to rotate bottle or anything, just grip, push, pull, and hey-presto its open. Amazes guests who haven't seen one before, and makes a thoughtful, useful Christmas prezzie.

Usage on Synthetic Corks
This product is great, and for use on a synthetic cork I have found that the best operation for success is to insert the "worm" in the normal way. Then with it inserted into the cork rotate (corkscrew only) around the bottle neck about 90 degrees. Then reclamp and continue to remove the cork... This tends to work about 95% of the time on these types of corks... Hope this helps you get to your wine alot quicker...! :)

Works every time
I bought a metal one of these as I figured the plastic wouldn't take the strain long-term. Makes de-corking a real pleasure and getting the cork off the screw is the same one-pull operation. Plastic corks take a bit more effort and the Aussie wide-necked bottles are a bit awkward but I haven't yet failed or broken a cork with this one.
