Best G3 show - Gr3at!!! for guitar heads everywhere
Satriani is all class and humbleness - anchors the show. Yngwie made it special with his unique playing and composition - I think he is one of a kind and suggest you ignore comments in reviews about his "Meatloaf mates Joan Jett" appearance - I guy gave it his all to make a mark among two of the worlds best peers and scored with original sounds and apparent passion. Vai has a great band but bores me - sounds like Satriani without the "Satchness" factor. Vai's triple neck guitar and lacy lingerie outfit leave me cold since his music while technically flashy never delivers the soul of a jimi hendrix lick (with fewer notes). All 3 playing together provide a truly enjoyable performance. Check it out.

a Steal at £5.97
This isnt the best G3 release in my opinion but at this price you can't not buy it. br / br /The main highlight of this disk is the 3 song Jam at the end, with a great rendition of Smoke on the Water. I like the cool way the 3 guitarists all take little pieces of Blackmore's original solo and interpret it in their own styles. br / br /Excellent value br / br /

An awe-inspiring display or guitar prowess
This is a fantastic DVD featuring three of the truly great rock guitarists of our time. Each individual set is fairly short, 3 songs each for Vai Satriani, with the new boy in terms of the G3 format, Petrucci, showcasing two tracks from his (relatively) recently released solo album. br /All three sets are excellent, although a couple of the Vai tracks are probably neither his best known nor best loved tracks. In the overall context, though, that doesn't really matter as any song he performs manages to show what an amazing musician he is. br /For those unfamiliar with John Petrucci, he is Dream Theater's guitarist and he has every right to be on stage with Vai Satriani. He is a technical master but also capable of playing with plenty of feel. br /The highlight of this disc has to be the three-song jam at the end. It is quite simply jawdropping. Expect a barrage of completely over the top playing which will bring a smile to your face every time. Each guitarist amazes at different points but, for me, Vai just about takes 1st prize due to his sheer inventiveness. br /This DVD is a must for all rock guitar lovers, particularly given the silly asking price. Highly recommended.

Malmsteen the only reason to buy
I have to operate around the staid an talentless Satriani and Vai.I've tried real hard to watch their performances but it's painful to watch.Car crash T.V when they're on I'm afraid. They shouldn't even be on the same stage as Yngwie as the pair of them[Satriani and Vai] just aren't good enough.Satriani and Vai have no aptitude whatsoever for the instrument and look like two cardboard cut-out figures on stage. As the three of them perform it's unsettling to see Satch and Vai shifting around looking real edgy as Yngwie lights up the stage.Satch and Vai's playing is completely emotionless, their performance? unravels,as they are completly outclassed by the amazing Malmsteen. You can see Vai and Satriani's confidence evaporating as they look crestfallen only offering pitiful crumbs against Yngwies mighty talent.Thankfully Yngwie is absolute class even the Denver crowd react more to Yngwie Malmsteen's set as his blistering honey of a guitar tone salutes the hungry for more Malmsteen crowd. The happy crowd punch the air, cheer, sing and look delighted that Yngwie the governor has made their night. When the other two play the crowd hardly move and look bored rigid.Satriani has a click track drummer,Yngwie had a proper rock drummer. It shows as he destroys the image surrounding the other 2 players and their elevator type yawn fest music.Yngwie plays with more emotion in one held note than the other two can barely muster in an entire career.I can only recommend it for Yngwie buy it though just for Yngwie showcasing yet again why he's the greatest guitarist on the Planet. For this type of tour to ever work Yngwie needs to be flanked either side by more worthy adversaries,Europeans like Jeff Beck,Jimmy Page,Eric Clapton,Brian May,Tony Iommi. Not the two Yngwie had to endure with their horrible fizzy guitar tones and no class.

The BEST G3 and possibly the best concert that ever was
This must be the BEST G3 ever. Partially due to the fact that I love Dream Theater, Joe Satriani, and Steve Vai. I have watched all G3s to date (that came out on DVD or were on the net), and this is definately without a doubt the best (I say again!)! br / br /Petrucci opens with Glasgow Kiss, off his individual album - true Petrucci style, the mix of melodies with the right amount of crazy legato and shredding. Vai follows with an even insaner act than he usually puts on, trully defying the laws of physics and ignoring what should be possible to do with a guitar, (save eating it). Satriani brings his Is There Love in Space album to the stage, with typical Satriani legato and screaming guitar sounds. The G3 jam at the end CANNOT BE MISSED if you miss any of it. The Jam includes some of the best and most famous rock songs ever written, and the supporting band are incredible, with Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater on drums, and ofcourse Sheehan, Vai's bassist. br / br /I will watch this many many times and it won't get boring - the G3 lineup 2005 is the most perfect balance in guitarist styles ever to hit the stage. If you like Satriani, or Vai, or Petrucci, or even just the guitar itself... GET THIS. br / br /*****
