great psychotronic Spanish madness !
br /I never knew that they made psychotronic films in Spain but after watching this amazing bit of cinema I feel re educated! Here's a brief summary of the story : br / Dr. Fausto is a surgeon who deals with terminally ill cases is on his way to a medical convention where he is due to present a paper when the first of many odd things happen - he's waiting for a train because of his behaviour on the platform we get the impression that he might be contemplating suicide. After all his is not exactly a joyous occupation! The suicide idea turns out to be a red herring, otherwise the film would be over very quickly but once he's on the (very smart) train he gets eyed up by a very strange looking old lady! She converses with him but he has no idea who she is -he winds up taking her bag off the train as she has simply disappeared! If you think this is mad so far, stay with it! The next strange character that Fausto meets is a guy called Vela, who bears an uncanny resemblance to the classical appearance of Mephistopheles! Vela claims the doctor operated on him years ago by removing his stomach (!) but Fausto can't recall. Vela follows the doctor around, offering him happiness and the fulfilment of all his wishes but don't be fooled into thinking this is just a variation on the selling your soul to the devil story. br / From here on in events resemble a cross between the nightmare imagery of Jacobs Ladder (remember that one?) the grossness of Reanimator! br /Sensitive dog owners need to be `cautioned'! You have been warned! There's some gratuitous sex involved too! To give away any more details would be criminal, so go check this out for yourself! br /Bonus making of doco is really cool but I can't help wondering how they coped with 3 directors! The dubbed English language version is absolutely fine all sub titles can be removed! br /A great Saturday evening's entertainment! br /
