Editorial reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
One of the most successful martial arts movies of all time, if not the best, IEnter the Dragon/I (filmed in 1973) was Bruce Lee's last completed film and the first significant meeting of Hollywood and Hong Kong cinema. But it wasn't an entirely harmonious marriage, with on-set communication breakdowns and rows resulting in some poor scripting, editing and overdubbing. Lee plays a Shaolin fighter recruited by British intelligence to spy on renegade Shaolin master and crime overlord Han (Shih Kien) by entering the martial arts tournament held on Han's fortress island. If the plot sounds a touch contrived, it is. Han's fluffy white cat, clawed hand and ruthless megalomania suggest nothing so much as a classic Bond villain, and the plot has holes you could pilot a large Junk through (Lee's discovery that his sister committed suicide rather than submit herself to Han's men is particularly weak). Nonetheless, Lee is utterly compelling. At the height of his skills, he choreographed, directed and performed fight scenes which are among the most gripping ever filmed, including the classic underground scene which, in this uncut version, contains Lee's incredible (and previously deleted) nun-chuck display. John Saxon and karate champion Jim Kelly ably support him as fellow contestants, with the massive Yang Sze playing Bolo, Han's lieutenant. Despite being cheesy and overblown, IEnter the Dragon/I is a highly entertaining and accessible Kung Fu film and a showcase for Bruce Lee's considerable skills. --IDuncan Thomson/I

WARNING
I write this to warn all potential customers. Do not buy this version - the one showed on the picture ( with the black outline, 2001 release) : br / br /1 - the video transfer is PITIFUL br / br /2 - in order to get to the extras you need to ... turn the side - like an old days vinyl LP and - br / br /3- the extras are not complete br / br /The only logical option is the 2-disc 2004 version : excellent video transfer quality plus LOADS - really - of extras. The greatest martial art film ever really does deserve that !

Ignore complaints of censorship, Nunchaku are in here!
Incredible and landmark film. This DVD edition is uncut, so ignore any negative reviews on here thay say it isnt. If you look some of these reviews are almost ten years old! Amazons system seems to list the same reviews on all editions of the same product, even extended or uncut dvds end up with the baggage of previous editions reviews for some reason. br / br /So a great accessible film for getting into Bruce Lee or martial arts generally. Recommended.

Superb Martial Arts Extravaganza
This, Bruce Lee's final feature film before his untimely death, is an extravaganze of martial arts, containing some of the most visually impressive and electrifying fight scenes in the martial arts genre. It was also the first 'Hollywood' film to really bring the martial arts genre and an oriental landscape into the mainstream. br / br /The plot is weak, but this doesn't matter, as Lee's perfromance is strong, his acting charismatic and fascinating. Within the martial arts genre, he has his own very unique and distinctive style, comprising a vast array of weird noises and manic facial expressions. br / br /On a mission to avenge his enemy 'Han' for the deaths of his Mother and Sister, Lee systematically fights a veritable army of fighters in a special martial arts training school, eventually coming face to face with Han in a dramatic showdown. br / br /Indeed drama, striking visuals, superb sound effects and beautifully choreographed fight scenes are in plentiful supply in 'Enter The Dragon', so much so that this should be enjoyed even by people who are not fans of the genre. Naturally Bruce Lee enthusiasts will be delighted with this succinct, yet action-packed film.

The Greatest Martial Arts Film Of All Time!
Enter The Dragon is one of my favourite films. It's one of those ones that you can always watch. You know it like the back of your hand but it's still extremely watchable. This is due to it's star. Bruce Lee just oozzes screen presence and his martial arts skills are just out of this world. The plot is a little thin but that doesn't really matter. All you want to see is Bruce kicking ass. Great fight scene after great fight scene. The music is cool as well. br / br /Special Features include all 96 mins of Lee's intended cut of Game Of Death plus home footage of him practicing etc plus interviews. It's all great stuff and at around £5 this is a great buy. br / br /I wonder what Bruce would have done after this had he lived!
