A nice juxtaposition of post-grunge and metalI was first introduced to Breaking Benjamin shortly after this album came out. A friend of mine had been listening to this album obsessively and had urged me to hear it too. Listening to So Cold was probably what pushed me to hear the whole album out (Back then I used to just listen to everything on my computer on shuffle, even if there were new albums I ought to be prioritizing)
br /
br /At first I only liked a few tracks, So Cold being the favourite, followed closely by Forget It, Follow and Rain. But after I'd heard these tracks a few more times I was completely hooked. While the previously mentioned songs are still my firm favourites (particularly Forget It for its chromatic progression + beautifully constructed vocals and Follow for the sheer power of its main riff) I began to appreciate each of the rest for individual reasons.
br /
br /Simple Design leads on from the atmospheric So Cold to launch into the commanding riffs that encompass the style of the next 3 songs that only diminishes slightly in the 5th track Break My Fall before the dynamically shifting Forget It. The 7th Sooner or Later is a little too simplistic to be as masterful as the other tracks. The passages of the song are a little too contrived and it is all too clear that this is from a deliberate attempt to be 'obviously catchy'. By no means is it a terrible song, it's just not as good as the rest of the album. The intro for Breakdown introduces some discordant guitar mixed with an intense vocal melody. After the slower tempoed Away and the raging Believe the album concludes with the acoustic Rain which lends a calming finish to an otherwise gutteral album.
br /
br /While Breaking Benjamin's lyrics leave a lot to be desired for, the music certainly makes up for it. This is worth a buy if you want proof that not all post-grunge influenced music is rubbish

great introduction to the world of Breaking BenjaminI hav only recently really got into Breaking benjamin I first heard them when i was playing Halo 2 like some others however i completely forgot who they were and it was only till a friend gave me their name that i decided to buy their album.
br /
br /This was the first album of theirs which i bought and i would recommend this album to anyone who has just herd of breaking benjamin and likes their music, it has a great mix of tracks from the more Heavy tracks such as breakdown and believe mixed with some of the "lighter" songs so cold and forget it.
br /
br /At first i didnt enjoy the heavier tracks and im sure others didnt too, but as u listen to them more you understand them alot more and now im looking to buy some of their other albums.

BUY THIS ALBUM!!I first heard breaking benjamin about a year ago when i bought halo 2 and my friend told me that they had done some of the songs on it (blow me away, follow - not the one from we are not alone) and i thought they were really good. I never really thought about them again until about two months ago when i saw their video for so cold on tv and it reminded me of how good they were so i went onto their website and listened to some clips of the songs and i bought the album then and there. Buy this album and you won't be disappointed.

A Really CDHeard "So Cold" when a work mate brought in a Half Life 2 video which it was the music for. Blew me away it did so I bought the cd after going to their web site listening to clips of the whole album watching the video. It really is a top cd. Not really the type of music I usually go for (I prefer heavier stuff) but we must all broaden our musical tastes. BUY IT!! You will like it.

Well worth a try!!!I first heard the track 'firefly' on the ps2 game smackdown vs raw. I had never heard of them before and liked that particular song, so I thought I would buy the album as it was relatively cheap. I was pleasently surprised by the album and especially by the first four tracks on the album. If you are into heavy rock music with some good melodies I suggest you take a look at this album. Even I liked this album and it is not fully my type of music as I am more into emo/screamo music so well worth the money.
