Where would the world be without LL?
Certainly a little drabber thats for sure. If you can't face wading thru all the albums and if your bank account can't stretch that far (really??) then this one fits the bill. Not the worlds greatest rapper but good solid and entertaining showman. You will not be disappointed and this is pretty good value for money.

If you are buying it for someone else new to his work then this is a great starting point to his work. Who knows you could expand his fan club for him!

Ladies Lurrve Cool J, ladies lurrve this CD.
It seems like this guys been around for a lifetime, yet he continues to produce quality albums. The DEFintion is no exception to that claim.

Strong throughout, this album was made attractive through the releases of the singles it contains, those being 'Headsprung' and 'Hush'. These two tracks are probably worth buying the album for alone, but once you listen to The DEFinition in it's entirity, you realise how good some of the others are.

Other impressive songs are 'Shake It Baby', 'Apple Cobbler' and 'Every Sip', the latter being a classic LL RnB track, which I think sees him hook up with Amerie for a second time following 'Paradise' from his last album.

On the whole, this is a good album, classic LL throughout, with some excellent production, it's definitely one for the collection that can be listened to at any time, no matter what mood you're in.

LL The G.O.A.T. = The Greatest of All Time
If you like Hip-Hop you gotta love LL Cool J. He is the only Rapper to have been in the game since Run DMC and is still making Hits to this Day! There is no other Rapper in History to of lasted this long and He still never seems done! This Album is just another Dope Album that will sound great in your collection of LL Cd's. This makes His 11th album. I thought he was finished at his 10th but he surprised me with this one. He always seems to change his styles to keep up with all the new style hip-hop out there. He sounds best when he is rapping to an old school beat. He will always be my favorite rapper of all time. I even had a web page and had a picture on there of him and under it I put The G.O.A.T. The Greatest of all time, and that was before he put out that album. It seemed LL and I were thinking the same thoughts at that time. It's funny but true He is just going to go down in history as the Best who has ever picked up a mic. So all you rappers out there to be the best you gotta be able to say you did it bigger then LL. Jay-Z was a great rapper, but to say he made more hits then LL would be a lie. Jay-Z retired from rap, but LL is still doing it big. So give LL his props and pick up this album. Peace and Much Love, Dj Master G!

Back and Baaaad
The Definition is something of a return to hip hop form after the pop-lite rap of '10'. While '10' did contain a few songs which Westwood devotees would probably call 'Bangin club joints', it's overall focus was about sounding good on the radio. 'The Definition' however, has it's eyes fixed firmly on the clubs. It's a much harder edged CD and, in my humble opinion, all the better for it.

Timbaland is in the producer's chair for 6 of the 11 songs on the CD, and that should give you a good idea of what to expect from many of the tracks. On the bouncing 'Move Something', you can almost hear Missy Elliott banging on the studio door. Even the track with R Kelly is a latin influenced jam, rather than the pop-lite papp you might expect whenever you see R's name.

LL has been in the rap game for too long for anybody to reasonably expect him to be making an album that could be considered cutting edge. He is such a master of the flow though, that almost every track sparkles just because of his presence. If you're a new rap fan who has never heard LL Cool J on the mic, this album would not be a bad place to start.

There are a few hip-poppers in the middle of the album, 'Hush', 'Every Sip' & 'Can't Explain it', that add a bit of contrast to the bass heavy grooves of the rest of the album. The inclusion of these songs will mean that fans of '10' will not feel completley alienated by the tougher edge adopted by LL for most of this album. For me though, they cause the album to sag a little in the middle.

'Feel The Beat' is proof that LL is not merely content to rest on past glories, he is still willing to try to experiment now and then. A spare beat with an electro pulse, and a sample that sounds like something you'd expect an indian snake charmer to be playing. It's nice to see that this rap legend is still willing to experiment from time to time.

We go back to the clubs for the last two tracks on the CD, which, when they're finished, always makes me want to press the 'play' button to listen to the whole thing again. And that, to me, is one of the signs of a great album.

Highly recommended to all hip hop fans, both old and new.

LL has done it again.
This Album picks up where G.O.A.T and 10 left off. He comes back with track one being a banging song guarenteed to get the parties and clubs pumping. The Album in general is excellent, LL shows lyrical genius and just does what he has been doing for 20 years...making great albums.

This is a must have!
