Amazon.co.uk Review
IEverything I've Got in My Pocket/I is the debut album from Minnie Driver and it comes as a pleasant surprise. Ms Driver is, of course, best known for her acting career, but it's little known that she actually started out in singing. Her voice is sweet on the ear - she sounds a bit like a Country-tinged Dido with a bit of Sheryl Crowe thrown in – and is more than capable of doing the songs justice. The album sounds like it could be on the soundtrack of an American drama about angst-ridden twenty-somethings, and that's not a bad thing, as it comes in a comfortingly mellow and lyrical package. Minnie worked with members of the Wallflowers and Pete Yorn in the studio, and it shows in the polished result. Blending folk, country and pop influences, IEverything I've Got in My Pocket/I gives the term 'easy listening' a good name. It is wonderfully accessible and has a dreamy quality that lingers long after the album has finished. If Minnie has more material like this in her pocket then Hollywood might just be put on hold for a while yet. I--Amy Anderson/I

The first ever decent recording by an actress...
I love music, but find it such an intensely personal thing that I find it tough to explain why I like the stuff I like, and consequently I tend to stick to advising against stuff I don't like.pIn the case of this CD, though, I will make an exception.pMinnie Driver has clearly followed her heart with this recording, rather than the guidance of some stylist or agent. This is proper grown-up music, not some Hollywood cash-in, and is brilliantly done. The fact that her backing band are a proper band, with proper band chemistry, rather than bunch of session musicians, makes all the difference.pIf asked to pigeonhole the music, I would say it is alt-country without the world-weariness, and it should appeal to anyone who includes Cowboy Junkies and Springsteen among their musical faves.pA quick mention ought to be made, I suppose, of Minnie Driver's voice. Not only can she sing, but her voice has an individuality and character that draws you in and hangs around in the back of your mind for days.pOnly time will tell if this is a one-off to fulfil a lifelong ambition, or a permanent addition to Minnie Driver's portfolio, but on this example, I'd say that, if she wants to, she could fairly safely think about giving up the day job.

Debut album for Minnie Driver
This debut album from Minnie Driver is really worth listening to.She has a very sweet melodic voice, not unsimiler to Dido, but more mellow. I hope she makes more albums in the future. She ia as good a singer as she is an actress.

Minnie Driver
I was lucky enough to hear the first tracks from this album when Minnie Driver was supporting the fabulous Finn borthers on their recent tour. I was highly dubious initially, oh no, another actress launching a singing career!!! I was more than pleasantly suprised, and the cd is an almost permanent fixture in my car. Beautiful music, beautiful voice, listen to Ruby Adeline and tell me this is no good! Buy it now!!

Engaging folky pop
I had no idea what to expect from this - 'oh no, not another actress trying to be a pop star' was my initial reaction, but it's so far removed from anything like that. This is genuinely good and an authentic attempt to make a serious adult contemporary pop/rock album. It's got a rather ethereal quality, which has a lot to do with Minnie's lovely, dreamy, velvety voice. In fact I like her voice so much, I could run out of superlatives to describe it. Some of the songs are better than others though, but particularly good are the singles 'Everything I've Got In My Pocket' and 'Invisible Girl, and the cover of Springsteen's 'Hungry Heart' is an excellent interpretation. It's worth mentioning that not only does Minnie come across as a fine singer, she also has the potential to be a fine songwriter too - most of the tracks on this album are self-penned. And best of all, she's British. I have to say I love this album.

ELEGANT
Minnie Driver was trained to be a singer before she became an actress and one wonders why it took so long to reverse the roles because she is a truly talented songwriter-singer. Everything I've Got In My Pocket is a very personal and intimate album of fairy-tale like laid-back jazzy rock country folky mellow and lyrical songs/ballads. It is extremely melodic, sweet and gorgeous for background music. Coasting music for dreamers, poets and lovers in the vein of Dido and Norah Jones. pShame she doesn't do more live performances but that may come when she has gained more confidence to produce further music to firmly establish her as a distinguished musician/singer.
