This latest, 3rd album continues the trend with the track Shadowlands. The track is one of the most beautiful I've ever heard, comprising subtle, moving melodies with the soaring vocals of Animus Mundi's Lee Nisbet. In my opinion, this track is alone worth the album's asking price.
However, I'm sad to say that the other tracks on the album are all just fillers (at least by comparison). While expertly produced, the tunes are starkly lacking the divine inspiration that drives the better tracks - they're kind that most people could come up with on the spur of the moment.
In this sense, I feel that Ramfjord's music is suffering the pressure of the professional music industry. There's a sudden requirement to output an album every year or so, but not nearly enough originality to do this properly. As such, both Evermind and the previous album, Aphelion, comprise mostly rough, with the occasional diamond thrown in.
To potential buyers: listen to Shadowlands. If it blows you away like it did me, you'll feel a moral obligation to buy the album. You might even enjoy one or two of the other tracks. But a caveat: don't expect all the tracks to be anything like that good.
