Probably the most useful thing I own
I purchased the Bug about two years ago. My inital reason for buying it was because I wanted to record radio programmes whilst I was working. The then-recent v1.3beta EPG (Electronic Programme Guide)upgrade was also a major selling point. I would recommend getting the Bug, in part because it can be upgraded to become a 'Bug Too' (but with a far superior colour to its younger sibling), and because it is pretty much all you could ever hope for in a small radio. It looks cute too. My only concern was that its USB upgrade facility wasn't compatible with my computer (until a recent upgrade), and so had to upgrade via friends' computers.

Love the Bug
I absolutely rate this. It's really easy to use and has excellent functions.
I regularly use the auto shut down function - it will switch itself off after 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes.
I massively appreciate being able to set the alarm for week days only - no more forgetting to turn it off at the weekend and back on again for Monday morning.
The display is too bright on standby. There are three levels of intensity, one of which is 'off' but I tend to find I just bend the head away from the bed so it doesn't wake me.
The central control can be irritating at times - because it's control by rocking the button up/down/left/right and down it can be confused by what you are asking it to do and will turn up the volume instead of switching off. A minor gripe for a radio I love.
Buy it!!!

Marvellous piece of kit
I bought one of the original Pure Bug machines recently. I've upgraded it to the latest firmware (v2.2) via the website and am very pleased with it. It now has all of the functions of a Bug 2.

Functionally, the Bug is tremendous. The latest firmware adds an EPG so that it now works like a PVR. It seems to have a few bugs but so does my Humax PVR - I'm confident that they'll be resolved in due course.

I have a minor problem with my Bug's 'Off' switch. As has been mentioned previously, it takes some getting used to - as it is also the 'select' button, you can navigate to other menus unintentionally. The later 'Bug 2' uses a different button to perform the same function.

Its looks are quirky but they do grow on you. Ultimately, DAB audio quality is not up to quality FM standards. This is similar for many other digital devices when compared to their analogue predecessors (Vinyl vs CD; 35mm vs Digital cameras etc). However, the convenience that it offers outweighs this.

Nice idea - but it will drive you mad!
The bug was one of the first to record to hd card and so was a great novelty. But it has infuriating controls. Several functions are controlled by a spongey central press dial- you may switch on;or off; or get another menu, but its just luck and it has often taken me sixteen pushes and two minutes just to switch off! Do yourself a favlour and buy a better model.

Well worth the money!
I got mine a couple of days ago. I have to say I think it is absolutely brilliant. The sound quality is top notch especially when you consider the speaker size, I haven't noticed yet the sound distortion that was commented on by a previous reviewer.
Some people have said they don't like the central "do it all" rocker switch it that controls the volume and channel selection and it's true it takes a few minutes to get used to it, but once you have done so its very easy to use and practical. There are just so many options to play with - including an equaliser function with presets.
The only issues I have is that sometimes the controls seem a trifle "independent minded" and that the size of the base is a trifle large - on the other hand that makes it more stable when you press the unit's controls.
Overall, I am very pleased with it.
