Like beating your head against a brick wall
Speaking without hyperbole, I think I can say that out of all the equipment I have bought throughout my life, from toasters to CD writers, this is without a doubt the WORST thing I have ever had the misfortune to waste my money on. With the computer in one room and the wireless router in just the next room, I have never had a signal strength stronger than "poor". My flatmates use different wireless cards and have no problems (just in case you think it's the router). As an experiment, I placed the wireless adapter right next to the router, as in four inches away, and it still couldn't find the network.

It is difficult just browsing the internet as the connection (when available) keeps getting lost. I am very disappointed with Belkin. Particularly after having previously bought the wireless desktop card only to find that I needed to download a driver from the internet in order to access the internet - proving Belkin have a keen sense of irony if nothing else. I think the amount of 1 star reviews this device has had says it all.

Terrible Product
I don't normally write reviews but this product was soo bad i thought it was my moral obligation to warn others. Worked fine for a couple of weeks, then stopped working. Updated drivers did everything still to no avail. The Belkin Software that is included is a joke and actually stops it from working on Vista. This is the second Belkin product that has died on me and i have lost all faith in this brand. My advise is stick to the netgear or linksys adapters they might look ugly but at least they get the job done!

Not up to the job
Hi, first time I have decided to add a review which usually means it was brilliant or rubbish. I have given it one star so you can probably guess which.

It just did not work unless I was within 1m of the router (Belkin wireless router). I bought this to make my Tosh laptop into a wireless beast but alas failed. I also have an IBM thinkpad with wireless built in and I was getting 'very good' signal strength on the wireless connection with the IBM and 'No Signal' with this adapter. This was through one wall and a distance of about 2m from router. Very disappointing. I bought this from PC World, sorry Amazon, and they were very good and took it back no questions asked. I think asking no questions was a mistake though as they should pass on customers' feedback, well done Amazon for providing this useful feature.

Hope this helps.

It works, but you need the latest drivers
Worked fine, but never after a reboot. My advice is to download the latest firmware from Belkin - for mine (v3.xx) this was f5d7050v3_ww_03.00.02_w2.exe

This has a much better Wireless Configuration GUI and you shoudl be fine - even so, I configured (via the new GUI) so that Windows XP manages the WiFi connection in the normal way. Now all is fine, even from reboot.

Works great apart from this caveat.

Absolute Rubbish
I am at a loss to know why Belkin are still selling this product. It has not worked propely from day one. I have tried all of the suggested "fixes" and none have worked. It has been used with 2 PC's and 2 Laptops, all with XP, which I think is giving it a good trial. The results have been the same. Belkin technical advice is non existant. Please do yourself a favour and do not buy this product. Try the Edimax EW-7318 USG.
