Good value fryer - basket is a little small
I have used this to fry samosas, spring rolls and other savouries and they have turned out fine. So far the fryer has been easy to use, the timer is quite handy too and it is easy to dismantle for cleaning.

On the downside; the frying basket is quite small and the viewing window steams up easily hence 4 stars, but the lid is easy enough to open to check contents. Otherwise a great product particularly because it can be cleaned easily. I really shopped around before buying this one and would recommend as it represents goood value for money at under £40.

a poorly designed piece of equipment
Kenwood DF520 Total Clean Deep Fryer 1.2KG White 2000w
There are several problems with this product.
1. The main problem with my specimen was the catch. A pair of plastic latches on the lid and the main body that very soon failed to keep the lid down either during frying or in storage.
2. The window is small and situated in the middle of the lid and remains steamed up throughout the whole cooking process. The Tefal I have now got has a large rectangular viewing window towards the front of the lid and this offers a much clearer view.
3. The flex is ridiculously short and, despite the size of the fryer, the storage for it is inadequate.
4. Size. You will need a) a big space to store it and b) a large area of work surface near an electric socket to accomodate the short flex.
I would advise anyone thinking of buying this product to have a look at one first bearing the above comments in mind. I threw mine away after 2 months of very frustrating and annoying use.

Unreliable
After reading several good revues on Amazon, I purchased one. Unfortunately it was delivered with a damaged inner seal and had to go straight back. The replacement worked well for about a month but then each time it was switched on it fused the house power supply. I have sent it back for a refund and will not be buying another

Keeps fat odours at bay
in the kitchen.


On the surface this certainly is a very impressive product and warrants the highly rated reviews, which are certainly applicable with regard to the ease of using and dismantling/cleaning and the safety features, including the collapsible handle on the frying basket for neat storage when not in use.

However, I also think it is worth mentioning that the internal frying basket measurements are:-

c 18.5 cm square/8 cm deep

GOOD BUY
A good buy, it has a large frying basket that holds 1.2kg of fresh chips or 1.00kg of frozen.Variable tempreture control and timer. It is quite a large square fryer which measures aprox 29cm W, 29cm D, 27cm H which could be a downfall it you have limited space.The permanant filter is good the following morning after using the fryer I couldn't smell chips on entering the kitchen.The viewing window isn't much use as it steams up so you have to lift the lid up and have a quick peek but I don't think thats anything to worry about.Easy to dismantle and clean. *****
