Amazon.co.uk Review
Writer/director Pedro Almodóvar's dark, sexy Hitchcock homage is his best work since his Oscar-winning All About My Mother, and deepened by a sun-dappled sadness. Handsome, enigmatic Ángel (Gael García Bernal) arrives at the Spanish movie offices of director Enrique Goded (Fele Martinez) and happily proclaims that he's actually Enrique's long-lost school chum Ignacio--an announcement that is both less than convincing and more than it seems. A novice actor, Ángel pitches a semi-autobiographical screenplay in which he's determined to star, a revenge-laden reflection of the doomed love he and Enrique shared as boys before a paedophile priest cruelly intervened. The script, and the lost days it recalls, carefully unfurls into a series of brooding movies-within-movies and memories-inside-memories, which allow the sensual, multiple-role-playing Bernal to give the performance of his young career--among other things, he makes a stunningly convincing drag queen--and Almodóvar the opportunity to suggest, movingly, that people will pay any price to ensure that their stories are told. -- Steve Wiecking

A brilliant film
A complex, dark and intense drama - Bad Education has been accused of engaging the head rather than the heart, but I don't think that's true. If you see the centre of the story as being the determination of Ignacio to reach Enrique no matter what, then you will connect to the feeling at its heart. And the image (which Almodovar takes some care to place in your mind at the outset) of the dead motorbiker continuing to ride his bike towards some unspecified goal will begin to make sense and help you to make emotional sense of the film. It's a tragic story, but one that is not without its moment of "success".

Bad Education is a brilliant film - dealing with difficult subjects - and it should have won more awards than it did.

There are a couple of deleted scenes buried in the Extras which - unusually - I think should have been included in the film as they help to further clarify and explain it to the audience. The many and varied poster designs (also in the Extras) are likewise worth a look.

tie him up
I am only commenting on Tie me up , Tie me down . I did not enjoy this film at all , Take a girl hostage , beat her up and tie her up until she falls in love with you ? and guess what she does fall in love with him ! It is a film that really doesn't know what it wants to be . I was left not really caring what happened , I did not care one bit about the characters and I felt it was a little demeaning to women .

A Must Have!
This box set which features five of Almodovar's best films - Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down!, Live Flesh, All About My Mother, Talk to Her and Bad Education - is a must have for any true Almodovar fan and moreover for anyone who simply loves cinema. All five films are thought provoking, moving and charming exercises from a true master of cinema.

Enigmatic & Unique
It's not one of Almodovar's best movies, but somehow it becomes unforgettable. The opening part was great, then I was a bit disappointed with how things were going, but at the end, when all elements came together, it started to make sense.
There are a lot of things that have already been seen in previous Almodovar's films. It seemed at times like some of his favourite themes, or cliches, were being recycled. Still, it works.
This is one of his minor works, but I would still recommend it. And the performances are excellent.

A film that stays with you.
Gael Garcia Bernal is amazing, the story is told in flashback, and present day. You never quite know what parts of the film are happening, and wich parts are being acted by the characters, who are making a film in the movie. - CONFUSED?- well i was, but my confusion just added to experence. All the performances are great, the characters engaging, and the story both lovely, and disterbing.
If your a fan of the director, or the star you wont be disapointed.
