Excellent supportA 3 year subscription to Bullguard came bundled with a new PC I purchased earlier this year - I was a little sceptical as to the whether this would protect me as I've never heard of the brand before.
However, I've since heard many excellent reviews of the product and recently had a problem with the firewall refusing to operate. I contacted their online support and was connected within seconds to an agent who was extremely helpful and guided me through to process to rectify this.
On doing a full virus scan later the same day, the scan picked up a virus that couldn't be disinfected or quarantined. I contacted support for assistance and didn't get an online reply immediately so sent an e-mail instead. This was replied to within 8 minutes with full instructions on how to safely remove the infected file.
I recall having a similar problem a good few months back and the speed of the reply impressed me again at the time.
My only complaint about this product is the frequency of the pop-ups and warnings advising that an attack has been detected and blocked but feel this is only a minor inconvenience given the seemingly effectiveness of the firewall and anti-virus scan.
Extremely easy to use and the support is both fast and effective - thoroughly recommend this product, particularly for novice users as you are guided through each process easily with the option for immediate support if required.

Well worth the money!Great what more can I say, I used Notons Anti-virus for years and not without its complications, having to re-master my computer a few times. I decided to give Bullguard a try and ime glad I did, it found viruses on my computer that Norton could'nt find and removed them, one virus was a bit of a problem to remove but with their on line chat and fast response i was able to get rid!
Well worth the money!

It all dependsWhether you have a good or bad experience with Bullguard v5, or something in between, depends on your computer set up. I've been using it for quite a while on my home computers and couldn't be more pleased with it. Like many another person who has reviewed this software, I'd had some nightmares with Norton's antivirus offerings and was therefore delighted when Bullguard installed quickly and efficiently, completed its registration routine, upgraded itself from version 5 to version 5.1, updated its virus identity information, provided an excellent technical help facility, allowed me to load it onto a couple of machines without charging extra, found viruses that Norton had missed and so on. All this delight and harmony will be yours so long as you have a broadband internet connection and your computer is running Windows XP. It may well run smoothly and unproblematically with other operating systems but XP is the only one I can speak for. That's not the end of the story however. Read on.
I was so impressed with Bullguard on my home computers that when the Norton subscription ran out on my work computer, I slung it off and installed Bullguard. Things did not go like clockwork as expected. The first problem was that my office is in one of those areas where you can't get a broadband connection. Bullguard assumes you have an always-on broadband connection and that you will not confuse it with connections to anywhere other than the internet. When I connected straight to our bank (not via the internet) it asked if I wanted to allow the connection ("yes please") then it tried to send the information to Bullguard's online site for some sort of verification. This was doomed to failure since the computer was speaking to the bank direct. So Bullguard said there was a "SOAP engine" error and the software was incorrectly installed. It took a while to sort this out. But bless 'em, Bullguard does give a very good technical help service (all day every day by the way). There were two upshots: 1) I was instructed to uninstall and reinstall using the online software download of version 6.1 - so we now have (I guess) the latest version for the price of the old version 5, because they didn't ask us to pay any more. 2) I got the "SOAP engine" error message again, but it can just be ignored, because it's really only grumbling at not being able to find Bullguard on the other end of the connection when I connect to the bank.
So there you have it. It's excellent on my home computers and slightly less so at work. Downloads take a long time using the primitive old analogue connection, though nowhere near as long as Norton downloads and if there are any problems, the tech help is on the job. Can't say fairer than that. In my experience it's worth the full 5*s.

A bad experienceWhen I first installed Bullguard v5 I thought I'd got a good product, but I had reckoned without running it on a 3 year old laptop with 30GB memory.
That laptop is in the process of being rebuilt after becoming overrun with viruses, trojans and goodness knows what else. Sure you get informed about everything that it's blocking but it's so memory-hungry that I could never finish a scan in a decent amount of time. It's also, as one reviewer pointed out, very annoying when it keeps popping up boxes to tell you what's going on.
Once my laptop's rebuilt, I won't be reinstalling this product. I've been recommended to try NOD32, and I think I'll do just that!
You definitely need to ensure you've got other security measures in place if you're using Bullguard, to pick up all the stuff it doesn't, and I suspect you need more memory capacity as well.
It may be a wonderful product for some users, and the reviews reflect that, but I personally wouldn't recommend it based on my own experience.
