Please inform Royal Mail before you post-rock
Essentially a post-rock supergroup composed of various members of Isis, Neurosis and Halifax Pier, Red Sparowes have crafted a set of captivating instrumental soundscapes easily the equal of their day-job bands.
While much vocal-free rock is accused of being little more than musical wallpaper, At the Soundless Dawn is a welcome exception. This album demands your attention via its constant shifts in pace, volume, texture and mood.
It sways between gentle picking and dense blasts of noise, encompassing eastern influences, feedback, dazzling guitar interplay and layer upon layer of beautifully textured sound, all interwoven with beatific melodies that you'll find bouncing around your skull for weeks afterward. This, in fact, is the album's real strength; no matter how intense it gets, it is never at the expense of the tune.
Highly recommended.

Buy this album if you like atmospheric music
Ignore the pretentiously long song titles. I bought this because of the connection to ISIS, being a big fan and I was not disappointed. The lap steel is a really strange addition to this type of music and in certain parts it sounds like country n' metal, which is actually a lot better than it sounds. The album as a whole gets a bit maudlin and dreary after a while but it's simply worth buying for the first three tracks, tracks one and two especially (the 3rd is good but almost sounds a bit too jolly for my tastes).

Epic
this is an epic cd, each song is really mind filling 'post-rock', bit like explosions in the sky, godspeed, mogwai all in one. Great melodic instrumental music, amazing for monged out environments
