Fanatical Curiosity
I'm a big Hue & Cry fan so bought this without much of a second thought. I was not disappointed and would encourage other fans to do the same.

Both concerts pre-date my seeing them live and so are new to me and probably most people outside Glasgow. The tracks are all from the time of the first album, Seduced and Abandoned. That's no bad thing and listening brought back the memories of concerts I did see. Even in the early, relatively under funded days this band sound good.

I hope there are more River Sessions of later Hue & Cry concerts, especially those with a brass section - that sounded great. But other than as an item of curiosity for fans I could not recommend these. Instead, go buy the real albums to hear the band at their best and hope they reform and play live with a horn section again.

And It's about time too
This is the album I have been waiting 17 long years for.I have been a Hue And Cry fan for more years than I care to remember With all of their albums and singles in my collection and numerous gigs under my belt,I always knew that there must be a proper live old school album out there some where.Don't get me wrong the Bitter Suite CD was great but I think that Hue And Cry sound better with a band behind them. This double CD was recorded ay two venues back in 1987 and for me it is the best Hue And Cry CD yet and I found out that the owners of the master tapes have a staggering 7 volumes of Hue And Cry live recordings so roll on The River Sessions Volume 2. The two concerts features Pat Kane on vocals,Greg Kane on keyboards, Tony Mccraken on drums, Nigel Clarke on guitar, James Finnigan on bass, Robert Purse on percussion and David Preston on backing vocals and covers naerly all the tracks on thr Seduced And Abandoned album plus B sides and cover versions one of which is an excellent version of Prince's Kiss. For Hue And Cry fan old ( like me ) and new this CD is the one for you. Thank you river records for making an old man happy and if someone out there could only put together a live Hue And Cry DVD together playing live with a band.
