Let's review this 'Best Of' collection:
1. Because We Want To: Our Girl's first single and first No.1 hit at the same time. 'Because We Want To' is a classic pop anthem that will make you feel young (and if you were a Billie lover back in '98 / '99, this song will bring you good memories), a fabulous way to start the album!.
2. Girlfriend: 'Girlfriend' is a sultry, RnB-esque song that gave Billie her second No.1 hit in the UK. It may sound cheesy at first, but it sure is a gorgeous piece of Pop music.
3. She Wants You: Billie's 3rd single release which reached No.3 in the UK. 'She Wants You' is a dance number that will make you dance (you'll remember my words - hehe)
4. Party On The Phone: This song was included on Billie's first album 'Honey To The B' - 'Party On The Phone' it's a catchy RnB track that was a potential single release but was completely overlooked by her record company.
5. The Tide Is High: Billie's amazing cover of Blondie's Pop classic, this one was going to be released as the 4th single of 'Walk Of Life' (In fact, it was on the release schedule) but was scrapped after the title track of the album flopped in the UK Charts.
6. Honey To The B: A very good acoustic pop song that will drive you insane - believe me - INSANE!, you will be singing the chorus of this track for hours, it will stuck in your head like bubblegum
7. I Dream: A sweet love song that was also included on Billie's 'Honey To The B', if you are a hopeless romantic like me - Watch Out!
8. Day & Night: Billie's 5th single release and 3rd UK No.1 hit - 'Day & Night' was HUGE back in 2000 (and I can't blame the mainstream audience) this song defines the word POP.
9. Bring It On: 'Bring It On' was included on Billie's somophore effort 'Walk Of Life', it's a Disney-esque sounding track - one of my favorites from the WOL album.
10. Promises: This is another song that was included on Billie's second album. It has an acoustic vibe to it and it's catchy and lovely at the same time.
11. Something Deep Inside: Billie's 6th single, 'Something Deep Inside' reached No.4 in the UK Charts - This song is another pop anthem that will get stuck in your head for days.
12. First Love: A soft song that was included as a B-Side on the second CD of 'Something Deep Inside'. If you loved 'Girlfriend', 'First Love' is like a more mature version of that pop classic.
13. G.H.E.T.T.O.U.T: Yes, this one is a cover of Changing Face's classic tune that was included on the first CD of 'Because We Want To' a couple of years ago. If you are willing to buy this 'Best Of' compillation just for this track - Don't Do It - take my advice. Billie's version doesn't do justice to the original song.
14. Caress The Gold: Billie's best B-Side (In my humble opinion), this hidden gem is a mellow RnB track, perfect for cold nights and rainy days. I really don't understand why Billie didn't include this track in her 'Walk Of Life' album.
15. Walk Of Life: Billie's last single release, 'Walk Of Life' debuted and peaked at No.25 in the UK Charts - completely destroying Billie's hopes of her 2nd album being a success.
'Walk Of Life' didn't deserve such fate, it's a wonderful song that I'm sure that you'll enjoy.
Overall, this 'Best Of' release it's a decent review of Billie's musical career (even if it misses some of her best B-sides like 'What's Missing', 'So Deep', 'It Takes Two', 'Call Me' the track that was included on Pokemon's movie 'Makin' My Way' and the bittersweet 'Last Christmas'), but if you are willing to know more about Billie's fantastic music - don't hesitate to buy this CD, NOW. You won't be dissapointed.
Thanks for reading this review =).
