SynopsisDEVDAS was a Bollywood blockbuster, both costing and making more money than any Indian film before it. best film that has aishwarya, madhuri and shah rukh togetherThis is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's best film so far. It has fantastic photography, fantastic acting by the trio, fantastic chereography, fantastic music. Devdas and Taal are comparable to any american or english film made in last 60 years.a must see film.

One of the Best Bollywood Movie - Beautifully AmazingI grew up watching so many bollywood movies, most of which were pretty stupid, dumb and so bad that I stopped watching them for a long time. I was very surprised when I heard about Devdas. The only reason I watched this film was just because Devdas was nominated by the Academy Awards as one of the best foreign film. If a Bollywood movie was nominated by the Oscars, then it couldn't be too bad (I thought to myself). The movie totally surprised me; it was not the usual cheesy/campy bollywood fare. I really liked it and it's now one of my favourite bollywood movie of all time. The whole story touched my heart and is a definite tear-jerker.
Khan's and Madhuri's acting were brilliant, and I just love all the luxurious costumes and sets. I especially love the songs, and they have become my top favorite listening songs on my apple ipod. My only complaint was that Ashwariya Rai was OK in the movie and her doe-eyed acting hasn't annoyed me too much. Overall, this movie is totally amazing, especially the tragic heart-breaking ending! I actually cried, and I seldom cry at sad movies!!
Anyway, even if you are not a huge Bollywood fan, i would still recommend watching this movie.

A VERYYYY POWERFUL MOVIE!This movie is AMAZING! my favourite bollywood movie of all time. I absolutely fell in love with Shah Rukh Khan after watching this movie, his acting is superb! The story of this movie touches your heart and is a defiant tear jerker. Madhuri's acting was brilliant and is a pleasant suprise to also have her in this movie. I must also admit, that this is the only movie where Ashwariya Rai hasnt annoyed me. Overall this movie is amazing! Even if you are not a huge Bollywood fan, i would still recommend watching this movie...it will make you fall in love with Bollywood! :)

A marathon tear jerkerThis film was an Oscar nominee and for a Bollywood film to be taken this seriously, or to reach such a wide audience, is rare. One thing to bear in mind is its length. It seems to go on for an hour longer than was vital, but that extra hour only appears to sweep you further away in Devdas' plight. I admit I am no expert on acting delivery, or directing style, but little under 20 minutes in I had forgotten I was watching a foreign language film, or reading subtitles, and was just swept away with the humanity of the story. Definately a film for a Saturday afternoon, accompanied by a large box of choccies and an even bigger box of tissues.

Just wrong pure and simpleThis movie is wrong for so many different reasons. Maybe because of the 'Tragedy King' Dilip Kumar did the old version so Khan really had his work cut out for him, and no need to say he came short for me. Aishwarya Rai was on the screen for eye candy for the guys, as she didn't really bring anything special to the character. Just played her like every other one with a pained expression on her face that she needs to get something out of her system as fast as possible. And her beautiful eyes go all puppy dog -like as though crying out 'VICTIM.' Her character lacked a lot of the depth next to Khan and Madhuri. Madhuri made a much more convincing lover it was seemed like Ash was causing the traffic jam not Madhuri. Nevertheless, the songs are quite good , Madhuri shows that she's still got the moves ; whilst Khan convincingly sobered himself up. What annoyed me the most was that *SPOILER* they didn't show properly that Paro had died. That is not a cliffhanger, that is just STUPID. Even so,this movie has gone on my 'BEST OF KHAN'S LIST.' (He made me cry when he died).
