The most effective tool for keeping kids quiet on long journeys. Hook up to the cigarette lighter indispensible.

Portable DVD
I purchased this item quite a while ago. It has been really good in many ways, great playback, quality pictures and sound etc and very useful to carry around on flights etc when the inflight entertainment is so dire!!
BUT - even now, months later, I am UNABLE to make this device function as multi-regional. I have followed the instructions to the letter, using the remote control and it simply does not work.
So while I do have an excellent little player in some ways, I can not play any of my region 1 discs on it. One of the reasons I purchased this was because it was advertised as multi-regional. So that side of it I am not impressed with at all.

Philips PET710
Probably the best budget DVD Portable on the market.
I researched very heavily before deciding on this model, based on information received from friends and top recommendation from the Gadget Show. I followed this with a lot of googling and reading. Armed with this useful stuff I finally laid down the cash and have not been disappointed!
I cant reccomend this player highly enough, it really has a great picture, sound quality is OK and the ease of use is fine.
Battery life is excellent.
OK so it starts up like a jet engine but that realy does n't detract from an enjoyable little gadget, shame I can't award more than five stars really!

How to 'fix' the audio-visual synching problem
This is a great little player and thanks to sukanat, I've made it multi-region. I noticed the lip-synching problems and found that rewinding a few seconds seems to fix it. The synching problems don't happen with all discs and you can usually tell when it will happen as the disc will 'hiccup' a bit upon start up. A bit annoying but I prefer this rather than going through returns!

great looking dvd player
I've had this dvd player for just over a year now,great looking dvd player with brushed aluminium effect casing expensive looking, better than those plastic looking players,this player is ideal when all the family are wanting to watch different programmes or films on tv.

This is a very good player apart from the lip sync, spoken words are a few seconds behind what is shown on the the screen,but i've only noticed this recently with new dvd discs just purchased ,older discs have been playing fine,this is the reason why its only 4 stars, it would have got 5 star had i'd reviewed it last year when i first got it.
