Excellent and entertaining little gadget
This little thing has two modes: clock and timer, depending upon which way up it is. There are simple buttons on each end allowing you to set the appropriate data and it makes a loud beeping noise when it goes off.

I got one of these for my mum (who's 60) and she loves just watching the little virtual grains of sand trickle past.

Much more entertaining than the wind up timers :)
