Classic!!! Or should be!One of those rare treats for us viewers, a sequel that surpasses its predecessor! The filming was started in 2004 as a continuation of House of 100 Corpses (which didn't seem to take off so well for a while).
br /We follow the story of Baby, Otis and captain Spaulding as the local brass moves in for revenge of the murder of the last Sheriff Wydell. The new Sheriff Wydell (brother) is tormented by rage and revenge. The movie touches on this, keeping us up to date and in touch with the growing madness and the consequences for our Firefly family.
br /Baby and Otis meet up with Baby's dad, the Marx-manic Captain Spaulding, at a motel to plan for escape. There they managed to brutalise another family. (The actors were pretty traumatised filming some of these shots - be warned!). After some more cracking bloodshed and splat scenes, the family run to Spaulding's adoptive brother's for safety, little knowing hoe powerful the thirst for revenge has become to the surviving Wydell. I won't give any more subplots away - spoilers are pants!
br /I personally can't praise this film enough. The documentary feel to the filming, the tender and loving family moments, the injection of realistic humour, the beautiful scenery and the choice of music all combined to rouse a feeling kin to empathy with the ever decreasing Firefly family. Personally, I feel this film will soon become a classic within it's genre. Genius!

br /Very important footnote: R.I.P. Mathew McGrory (Tiny). In his short life (though well over seven foot) he graced our screens in a style all his own. Mathew died in 2005 of natural causes, the same year this film was ready for us. Cheers, you're a star!

Cheap and nastyViolent, sadistic movie, without any redeeming features - didn't do anything for me. No, I lie. It gave me a lot of bad memory flashes. Switched it off quite quickly.
br /Nasty stuff.

Ugh! Look out for the world's most disgusting underpants! This film is repugnant in almost every way. It's for this reason, of course, that it's so compelling. As gross-out entertainment it just about fulfils all requirements. From a technical viewpoint, only one or two flaky performances let it down.

br /Though it's possible to understand why people watch such movies it's more difficult to understand why anyone would want to make one. For the viewer movies such as this can act as a form of exorcism by satisfying the fascination for the lurid and the macabre that lurks in all of us. But what purpose does making one serve for the creator? That's a far more complex question.
br /
br /Anyhow, amid all the brutality The Devil's Rejects delivers several moments of genuine humour. There are some nice nods and references to other movies and the film world in general. There's a great 70s soundtrack, and there is a certain visual flare to much of the violence, especially the later scenes.
br /
br /This is definitely not a movie for the squeamish, but for gore-fest fans it's perhaps as good as it gets.

Awesome Movie! If violent horror is not your bag, forget this. Some of the scenes are painfully graphic, but Zombie has excelled here where with House Of A Thousand Corpses, he was treading water in comparison.

br /There are faults - let's be clear - as the continuity between this and the aforementioned prequel HOATC, doesn't totally add up. But that said, one wouldn't really need to watch HOATC to get total enjoyment from this movie. Bill Moseley, Sid Haig, Sherri Moon and William Forsythe each pack a powerful performance which adds real class to what is a clever mix of horror, western and road movie.
br /
br /Special mention for the movie soundtrack, which absolutely rocks and fits the film perfectly. 'Midnight Rider' - The Allman Brothers Band, 'Fooled Around and Fell in Love' - Elvin Bishop, 'I Can't Quit You Baby' - Otis Rush and 'Rocky Mountain Way' - Joe Walsh are all super tracks which get accompany this great movie, but dare I say it, the best is saved until the final sequence in the movie. Panoramic shots of arid, rocky-sided roads, you feel as if you're flying above the final scene about to be played out, then you swoop down to live it and breathe it with the cast; there can only be one outcome - it's obvious - but for a moment, belief is suspended while the wonderful sound of 'Free Bird' - Lynyrd Skynyrd, unfolds from the speakers and the final battle commences.
br /
br /It's excessive, it's extreme, it's unbelievable, yet it remains one of the best movies of its kind I've ever had the pleasure to watch. It took me by surprise the first time I watched it (I was expecting HOATC Part 2) and it continues to surprise me each time I watch. Zombie's masterpiece. 5 Stars.

In a word: WOWbr /
br /Is Rob Zombie a totally insane, sick and sadistic piece of scum? Or is he just one of the best directors in all of film history? This is the question he wanted his audiences to bring up while writing this total head-smasher of blood, sex, violence, power and insaneness! The answer is: it's up to you.
br /
br /The plot has been explained several times in previous reviews, but essentially: A family of murderous crackpots go on the run from cops who are equally - if not more - insane. If you're a horror fan, that may sound bloody perfect. No. It wont be anything like what you're expecting.
br /
br /What is this film's genre exactly? Horror? Western? Thriller? Action? Chase movie? B movie? Slaughterhouse flick? I'd say a mix of all of 'em! After watching this movie, I had to lye down on my bed with the lights off for about half an hour! I think it says somewhere on the blurb about the film leading to a great final showdown... wrong! The entire film seems like a showdown!
br /
br /Some of the scenes in this are enough to make even the most hard core horror fans squirm in their seats. What happens isn't actually as bad as some other horrors, it's just the way it's done that makes it so much more terrifying- another of Zombie's subtle tricks. All this leads to one of the greatest climaxes of all time- the perfect, immensely powerful ending.
br /
br /Yes. This is the most terrifying film I have ever seen, only just pushing 'Inland Empire' out of the way. Basically, this film is a complete experience. One to watch with a few friends, so they can pump some mental stability back into you at the end!
