br /Always loved Queen and now at 56 still do,watched the freddie mercury tribute concert too many times to count so some of Queens songs I now relate to other artists Seals hair raising Who Wants To Live Forever and of course George Michaels Somebody To Love But from the beginning of this
br /DVD with Tie Your Mother Down you knew you were going to love it.
br /Paul Rodgers has great power and range in his voice but doesnt have the stage presences of Freddie Mercury but then again who has and many of the songs were Freddies and nobody had the range he had.
br /This a lot more rock orientated than the old Queen but with the introduction of songs like Wishing Well and Feel Like Making Love alongside audience participation of Love Of My Life its a mix that works well and I would say that its a dvd or cd for any Queen fans collection
Fantastic, fanastic, fantastic! I was fortunate to be present at this concert and was even more fortunate to be almost within 'plucking' distance of Bri's guitar strings... even made several guest appearances!!! A truly brilliant concert... probably the best I have ever attended.
br /I have been a Queen fan for many years a Paul Rodgers one (Free Bad Company) for even longer. Like many people have said (Brian Roger included) Paul was never going to be a replacement for Dear old Freddie and he never tries to be. Instead he puts his own mark on the Queen material and it works extremely well. A must buy DVD... fantastic!
As a Freddie fan it was a difficult decision to watch this dvd (borrowed from my boss) but it is absolutely fantastic. Paul Rodgers doesn't try to be Freddie but has himself a fabulous voice and this dvd is a wonderful tribute to Freddie. It is very moving and I cried several times - Love of my Life was beautiful and I was amazed that I remembered all the words and sang along with Brian May and the audience. I have bought several copies since I watched this and have my own precious copy now. C
For many years we have enjoyed watching and listening to Queen also Brian Mays solo appearances, but it was only recently that we became aware of Paul Rodgers. But what an amazing combination. No one was ever going to match the voice of Freddie but Paul Rodgers added his own style/slant on some classic Queen numbers, and it worked perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Unfortunately we never got to see Queen live while Freddie and John Deacon were still around. But we are going to make every effort to see them and Paul Rodgers in their tour this Autumn. If the 2005 DVD is anything to go by it is a live performance not to be missed.
I was at this concert myself, literally 5 metres from the front row.. this dvd captures every bit of amazement I saw that night.. Yeah, at first I'll admit, i was unsure how the whole Paul Rodgers thing would work out.. just as many people were wondering. But - in no way did he try and fill Freddie's shoes, Paul put his own unique style of blues into some of the songs and the result was very enjoyable. Id highly recommend this..
