Young Dorothy Gale (played by Judy Garland), her dog, Toto, and her three companions on the yellow brick road to Oz -- the Tin Man (Jack Haley), the Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr), and the Scarecrow (Ray Bolger) -- have become pop-culture icons and central figures in the legacy of fantasy for children. Actress Margaret Hamilton, the Wicked Witch who covets Dorothy's enchanted ruby slippers, has had the singular honour of scaring the wits out of children for more than six decades. The film's still as fresh, frightening and funny as it was when first released in 1939. It may take some liberal detours from the original story by L. Frank Baum, but it's loyal to the Baum legacy while charting its own course as a spectacular film. Partly shot in glorious Technicolor, befitting its dynamic production design (Munchkinland alone is a psychedelic explosion of colour and decor), iThe Wizard of Oz/i may not appeal to every taste as the years go by, but it's nonetheless required viewing for kids of all ages. --Jeff Shannon

Great Special Edition of an Amazing Classic
The Wizard Of Oz is an amazing film, it had always been one of my favourites. Then when this special edition came out, I had doubts thinking it would be rubbish quality, just the same as the previous Wizard Of Oz DVD (the one without special features). But I was highly wrong! The quality is fantastic, much better than the previous DVD and VHS tape put together. But the special features are AMAZING! They give you so much background information on the film, it is fantastic. br /Overall, this 2 disc DVD is amazing. What are you waiting for Wizard Of Oz fans? Buy it!

Classic Cinema
I bought this DVD because i still remember the wonder and the excitement i felt as a boy watching the film. It's a true classic. It'll make you laugh, it'll make you cry, it'll make you think and it will entertain the whole family. My oldest daughter, who is six years old now, had a splendid time watching it. My wife cried. I guess it says it all...

A classic every home should have
What can I say, it's the Wizard of Oz!! Every child should see this at some stage and it's a classic everyone should have in their DVD collection. You get an extra bonus DVD which shows how the film was made, the munchkins, etc. A lovely film which my children always love to watch on a rainy day.
