Too tame for his talentsI bought this album on the strength of seeing a live 2005 performance of "Where do I begin" on YouTube, but I was disappointed by this album because I have seeen Rick live and know the incredible vocal talent this man has, specially live. All these songs seemed restrained and "tamed", as if he was being very careful for some reason, and he wasn't making these songs his own and stamping his unique style onto them. The accompaniements seemed almost karoke sometimes. If Rick was thrown into a jazz club to jam with a bunch of musicians he'd be awesome, they should do that then release THAT as a CD, not this tamed-down version of his fantastic voice!

Actually really goodI am an old fan of Rick Astley and have his earlier records. I think some of them are fantastic and others are, well, more average. I read the reviews on this page and they made me hesitate in bying the record. But I listened to some of the songs and found that I really enjoyed them!

br /I think it's a really good collection of interpretations of old classics. I think he really aimed at presenting the songs in his own personal style and most of the times it really works. He's come a long way since his earlier work which shows on these recordings. I mean, he's not 18 anymore...

br /So, if you like his latest albums then you'll probably enjoy this one too. If you're more into the dance music - you'll probably hate it. Personally - I think it's a gem and I think I'll regard some of the songs as minor classics which I can return to in the future. A strong 4-star album!

A bit of a disapointment...I really had high expectations for this new album from Rick Astley. He has such a marvelous voice but the production on this record really lets him down. Really great concept but poorly presented. I look forward to hearing Rick's new material soon.

Could do betterI was disappointed with this album. The choice of songs is OK but Rick does not really make any of them his own. At times he seems more concerned with getting through the lyrics than interpreting them - Vincent is a good example. The production values are not outstanding. There is no comparison, say, with George Michael's 'Songs of the Last Century'. That said, Rick has a really good voice and it is great that he has ventured back into the recording studio. I look forward to his next production.

try a little tenderness...We have been waiting for so long for the come-back of this warm and soulful voice... it's a real pleasure to listen to this album, so smooth, soft and warm during this cold winter...brLet's hope we won't wait again so long to hear this fantastic voice again!brSuch a pity this album is not available in stores outside UK!
