Is that it?
Ever since his 2 big hits of 1973 there has been an endless parade of "best ofs" and "greatest hits" but here it seems like we can finally hear all the stuff left off. br /Stevens was a very talented parodyist who never missed a trick and constantly rang the changes like his bluegrass version of Erroll Garner. br /Beginning in the 50s as a musician in Georgia-where the pool included Joe South and Jerry Reed he was first off the mark with a hit single-1962's Ahab the Arab followed up by a song which at the time had the longest title yet . br /By the middle of the decade he was on Monumemnt with his brand of country music and comedy but the big one came in the 70s with the much covered Everything is beautiful. br /Stevens as a songwriter was as good as most but his covers were brilliant br /Listen and laugh because he was funnier than any alternative comedian and presented his comedy with a socking great backbeat
