great classics
Great classics , a "must have"....even if there are some important titles missing like "strangers on a train", north by northwest.....well I'll just have to buy another box-set with all the missing ones! Nice bonus tracks .

The Birds? FULL SCREEN??
I despise 16:9 tvs. Why? Because they pretend to be widescreen, when actually the aspect ratio is only 1:1.77. And why does that matter? Because widescreen movies have a ratio of 1:2. Or 1:2.35. br / br /So most dvds sold get 16:9d, even when the films are much wider than that. br / br /Now, The Birds. If it was 16:9 ratio, I could live with that, just about. But to present it FULL SCREEN in what is meant to be a definitive boxset is like being kicked in the balls. It's just dreadful. It loses HALF the picture in every single shot. br / br /Is this an error on the part of universal or are they wanting everyone to buy their favourites separately as well?

Great set : br / br /1 - There are 15 discs - Psycho is double although that 2nd disc is virtually empty - only some celebration of Hitchcock, br / br /2 - Outer box is solid and good looking, br / br /3 - Selection of films is interesting , among them : Vertigo, Psycho, Rear Window, The Birds, Saboteur, Frenzy - cinematic masterpieces, br / br /4 - Extras are interesting ( including an 80 min doc on the Birds ) and they ARE, in contrast to so many other box sets compiled only to attract random customers. It is really for fans of cinema, br / br /5 - Customer Scottie ( panned, scanned...) refers to wrong aspect ratios for some of the films. Well... I think this is not the most important factor if you want to enjoy films of such quality and purchase a set of discs for a good price br / br /6 - Video transfers are excellent, the films are presented freshly after extensive restorations like Vertigo, br / br /7 - Do you know that Leytonstone Tube station walls are decorated with mosaics of pictures from Hitches films. Recommended to see it !

wow! what a legend
I bought this box set just vaguely interested in Hitchcock and having only seen Psycho and I wasn't disappointed. Hitchcock, in short, is a genius. One word: unforgettable. I will definitely watch these over and over again. Wow!
