EW-7206APg is a bridge between the wired Ethernet and the IEEE 802.11g/b wireless network. EW-7206APg lets your wireless client stations to access both the wired and the wireless network nodes.

WDS Bridge Mode (Repeater Mode)The WDS (Wireless Distributed System) function lets EW-7206APg act as a wireless access point and repeater (with other WDS support devices) at the same time. Users can use this feature to build up a wireless network for a large space like airports, hotels and schools …etc. This feature is also useful when users want to bridge networks between buildings where it is impossible to deploy network cable connections between these buildings.

Universal Repeater ModeWhen enable Universal Repeater Mode, EW-7206APg acts as a wireless access point and AP client at the same time. It uses AP client function to connect to a Root AP (any AP) and uses AP function to service all wireless stations within its coverage. All the stations within the coverage of EW-7206APg can be bridged to the Root AP. Universal Repeater Mode is a very convenient way to extend the coverage of your wireless network.

Station Mode (AP Client Mode) -You can connect EW-7206APg to a network device's ethernet port and enable Station mode. Iteasily turns this wired network device to a wireless one without changing any configuration.

Robust Wireless Security - Beside the basic security settings like ESSID and 64/128-bit WEP encryption, EW-7206APg also supports the advanced security features, like WPA, WPA2, MAC access control and hidden ESSID. With other Edimax adapters, we provide a total solution to build up a secured wireless network environment to prevent all kinds of hacker intrusion.

RP-SMA Detachable Antenna - EW-7206APg provides a standard RP-SMA antenna connector . You connect with any RP-SMA high gain aerial to extend the wireless LAN coverage and improve the performance. Web ConfigurationYou can configure this access point through the friendly Web user interface with a browser.

Not impressed
Quick installation guide is written in such bad English it's barely comprehensible so if you're not experienced with WAPs you're going to be tearing your hair out.

I got it working with my Draytek router (eventually), but it seems to average at 40% packet loss which makes it agonisingly slow most of the time. Thought it might be a linux problem but, no, it sux on Windoze too.

It's set up according to their helpline's instructions so I suppose this is as good as it gets. Looking at it nervously and waiting for it to clap out altogether.

The one thing to be said for it is that the phone support was good. That'll teach me to buy cheap wireless equipment.

Does the job just fine
Lovely piece of kit - but a little warning. Read up on the website before installation. I tried at first with the quick instructions, supplemented by the info on the CD - I didn't quite get the plot right. So I went on the website, did research on FAQs and started again with my own instructions - success! It was easy when I knew what all the terminology was.
