Amazon.co.uk Review
And so it begins. It’s hard to pinpoint just when you realise how good ILost/I actually is. Granted, the opening episode is an astonishingly assured way to start, replete with an almighty plane crash on a seemingly deserted desert island. Yet as those who have followed the hype are well aware, there’s far more on offer here, with carefully woven plotlines introducing a series of characters who are slowly and intriguingly fleshed out throughout the 25 episodes in this set. P At its best, ILost/I is a delicately layered adventure, laced with some stand-out moments. You’ll find ample instances of them here, as well as umpteen examples of the quality of writing that underpins the show. Far fetched? Yes, occasionally, and you could also argue that it takes a while to recapture the energy of those dramatic opening episodes. But this is still a lavish, compulsive show that benefits heavily from its clearly substantial production budget. P Naturally as there are more episodes made and planned, there are plenty of building blocks being put in place for later on, both through the evolving life on the island and the plethora of flashbacks that back it up. Yet it’s at this point that the quality of ILost/I really hits home, thanks to lots of short term excitement with plenty still to enjoy as the show progresses. That makes ILost Series One/I a rewarding purchase, and one that promises even greater things ahead.--ISimon Brew/I

Where the journey began..
I remember when I tuned in for the very first episode of lost a few years back. From the first second I was gripped, and that grip has not let go after 100 episodes. The show Lost is in series one is not the show it is in season 5. There are twists, turns and alot to follow. Though confusing at times, Lost has always been top quality entertainment, and cleverly shifted from survival thriller to sci-fi drama. The show takes alot of investment, but it completely pays off with it's incredible creativity and genuine smarts. Some may be turned off by the lack of answers, but if you stick with it up until the fifth season, it all pays off and fits weirdly into place. A strong cast of intersting and diverse characters drive this fast-paced drama which throws twists at you so confusing that you wonder wether the writers know what's going on. If you're willing to stick with it, which I strongly reccomend you do, Lost is a show worth watching for any television addict. Be warned: it's more than just a survivor drama and it get's pretty weird..

Loose yourself in the First Season of LOST!
I didn't really know what to expect from LOST, I've never seen it on TV before and I'd heard different things (it's good, it's wierd, etc), but I thought it was great. It did take a while to get going and there are a few average episodes, but overall I'd say this is a must have for TV fans and hopefully LOST will continue to get better over time!

Lost without Lost
Lost series 1 box set is a must have on the DVD shelf. Action, tension, drama and more twists than a flump.

Almost but not quite
I decided to buy this series after reading through other people's reviews and the result is that in the end I am a bit disappointed, for a number of reasons. br / br /I start with what works (for me): the series is involving and we are left wondering what's going to happen next at the end of practically every episode. Undeniably the interest is captured though I'd like to point out that this is accomplished through less than original means: sometimes we are not allowed to see what the protagonists do, we are presented with an endless series of unanswered questions or improbable situations (sometimes unfortunately soap opera-like). br / br /What also works is the flashback technique for telling the stories of the different characters and how their lives are somehow intertwined by what we can so far call "fate". br / br /There is a rather good chemestry between the actors and basing the series on their synergy was a good choice, but it's annoying to see how they seem to be chosen (both girls and boys) for their model-like, ideal beauty more than for their acting skills (which are nothing more than okay, in general). br / br /Now the things that don't work (and they are many): the dialogues are cheesy, often irritating when they come to the supernatural (Rousseau speaks in the usual "no-tell" terms using the annoying "they"/"others"), the characters themselves often throw in your face those inner conflicts that should be more elegantly hinted at (Jack's is a good example). Some backstories (I think of Harvey's) tend to the ridiculous or to the stereotypical (I think of Charlie's). br / br /By the way, after a month, most characters seem to adjust all too well to the enviromental conditions, so that their skin is still fresh and they still have enough make-up to look sexy despite being stranded on a deserted island (making me wonder if they found some sort of infinte supplies of cosmetics). br / br /Bottom up is that for me this "Lost" failed to score higher than X Files did in the past, being superior to it only when we come to analyze the development of the story as a concerted cooperation of a number of protagonists (all rather interesting for one reason or one other - Michael being a favourite). br / br /I am still uncertain about continuing with it or not. In my experience, series I like tend eventually to deteriorate (X Files did, The Simpsons did) so I'd likely end up stopping here so that "Lost" will still awaken a rather good memory for what it managed to accomplish under the first season. I am a bit tired of sequels spoiling what good they did before. Three stars.
