A good gig recording
I am quite a big Black Crowes fan so even though i saw some negative reviews of this DVD i thought i would buy it anyway. I wasnt disappointed, all their best tracks are played at this gig and it lasts for over 2 hours! I also like the way the DTS sound track played each instrument through a particular surround sound speaker depending where it was played on the stage. For instance the drums at centre stage would come through the front speakers and the rythmn guitar at stage left would come through the front left speaker. Any crowd noises of course came from the rear speakers. br /If you like the Black Crowes music and enjoy live gigs, buy this DVD.

Top notch performance
I agree with everyone else, this was a long, long time coming. Firstly, the quality of the DVD. This is one of the finest quality DVD pictures for a non movie I've ever seen. It was shot in HD and the base quality shines through with the effort put into the DVD transfer. The soundtrack sparkles as well. Not only a 5.1 audio with excellent clarity, but DTS too. There are few movies these days that supply this choice so five stars for the technical side. I can only imagine what the Blu-Ray version will look and sound like. br /The performance.... this is a performance on par with, maybe even better than, the tour closing show they did at Reading after the Southern Harmony. The song choices are excellent and the musicianship is something to behold. They all just gel together as a unit too and this shows through in buckets. This is them at their best and they show a depth and quality that has been polished to perfection over the years, but still retains all the usual Crowes character and personality. Buy it and relish them at their best and unfortunately, the last time you'll ever see Marc Ford with them.

That pure inner light shining through...
Covers of The Flying Burrito Brothers, Grateful Dead, Devendra Banhart the Stones, and it's only the bonus section of this, the Crowes first DVD-release. I'd recommend viewing it first, as it sees the band getting ready for the show. No complete songs are heard, but still these rehearsal snippets excite, give insight to the Crowes organic approach to music.brThe concert footage shows them playing the legendary Fillmore venue in Frisco for an enthusiastic audience in the fall of 2005, when their come back tour had well and properly taken off. It's all from just one performance out of their multi-night Fillmore run, the amazing musical skills of them band augmented by the West Coast Horns, whose added flavour is ever the better when one knows they only rehearsed with the Crowes that very same afternoon.brThe footage is pleasing to the eye, and even if Chris Robinson is a natural main attraction as the vocalist and front man, cameras don't stay glued on him, and one gets a good sense of what is happening on stage (the six piece band, two backing vocalists, and the four man horn section).brI find showing the footage of the band members walking and hanging around Frisco during the jams an excellent idea, more so since it's quite psychedelic without reverting to cheesy special fx. Needless to say the musical soundtrack to these sections is VERY psychedelic, and not a bit cheesy!brThe song selection is well balanced and covers the band's whole career, main focus being on the Southern Harmony and Amorica albums.brHighly recommended.

More like a travelogue in places than a concert film.
I know some concert films can be very boring, especially if the band are plodders at best but the Crowes are more dynamic than most, the excitement on stage should and does come through most of the time. So why do we have to put up with boring footage of the Crowes walking around San Fransico doing nothing in particular when the band are in jamming and soloing mode.I realise that some people don't like these extended passages but at least they are more interesting than travelogues.brOverall these passages spoil the vibe completely. The music and sound though is great throughout.

A Long Time Coming!
Can't wait for the release of this dvd, its been a long time coming! Taken from the band's successful comeback tour in 2005, the Crowes first official dvd promises to be a tremendous gig. Combining old favourites like Seeing Things, with exciting cover songs, The Night they drove O'l Dixie Down (The Band), this dvd is an essential purchase for all Crowes fans. Including behind the scenes extras and other treats this is one Rock N Roll dvd you won't want to miss!
