Amazon.co.ukThe love life of a woolly mammoth - handled with U-rated delicacy - drives this sequel to the first computer-animated romp in the age of prehistoric mammals. While the first
Ice Age took a delightful premise and suffocated it with a formulaic plot - in which a mammoth named Manfred (voiced by Ray Romano, Everyone Loves Raymond), a sloth named Sid (John Leguizamo, Moulin Rouge!), and a sabre-tooth tiger named Diego (Denis Leary, Rescue Me) helped an abandoned human infant return to its tribe (basically, Three Mammals and a Baby) - the sequel takes the now-familiar setting, gives it a shapeless, episodic storyline, and yet somehow becomes pretty darn entertaining. Faced with the threat of a flood from melting ice, our heroic trio are on the run to escape from their blossoming valley. On the way, they meet a female mammoth (Queen Latifah, Bringing Down the House) who thinks she's an opossum and get menaced by some freshly defrosted carnivorous fish. Add into the mix a herd of lava-worshipping mini-sloths, some Busby Berkeley-style vultures, and more ingenious slapstick featuring the acorn-crazed Scrat, and
Ice Age: The Meltdown will amuse even jaded adults. --

funny beyond beliefThis is the funniest animated film i`v ever seen. The great thing is, in between the different scenes there`s another little story going on that is equally as funny. The whole family will enjoy this for sure.

hey kids, go hug a treeThe clues in the title - it's about the ice shelves melting and therefore addresses a current concern over our environment without being too preachy about it and having some fun and japes along the way. Scrat as ever is excellent and by far the best twitchy hyper CG animal in any of this type of film. All the 'acting' is great i.e. the voice talent and also the way this is fed back into the animation of the faces and mannerisms. There has also been a vast improvement over the rendering of the characters and environments over the original - as you would expect technology has moved on and things like fur and water look a lot better in this film - although I have to say Happy Feet still gets the medal for best graphics. If you liked Happy Feet you will like this, but I recommend you watch the original one first as you need to have a knowledge of the mammoth's 'back story' prior to this or you may not get into the whole wanting a family thing that he has going on in his big hairy head.

Family Dvd's Have just gone form 4 stars to 5!This Film is absulutley Fantastic.
You will laugh all the way and it is very toughing
Manny and his sidekick sid are back with the tiger
But this time a meltdown underway. The must make to
a boat like 50 miles away from them in order to live.
But 2 creatures (predators are to coming to life).
About half way through the movie love scenes kick in
after Manny discovers not all his kind is extinct. But
the thing the other female Mamoth tinks she's a Possum!
With many twist this becomes form druel to cool. Like the fact
thr tiger is afriad of water. Many funny Moments are the
scene were the Birds of pray sing a strong LOL (laugh out loud)
part of the movie! Great story line!
Very good drawings and clear voices
10/10 comedy
9/10 storyline
10/10 beg mid end
Not a waste of time or money

A supprise! This is a fantastic suppprise. A film aimed at younger children is actually very funny! There are a few stories and a few different characters to follow. All of which will tickle you endlessly! The first film was similar, funny and aimed at a younger audience but still capturing the imagination of the older audience. One of the funniest characters must be the squirel and his battle to look after his nuts (if you don't mind the expression!!) during the big freeze.
This is a great film for the older audience not just the younger generation

Utterly nuts!I watched the first film a few years ago and was well tickled by it. This second is just as funny. Supposedly for kids but every bit as much for adults who have not grown up too much. Overall I like the humour, the pathos, the loyalty, etc, and the layers of stories intertwining. The ending is heavenly. One tiny criticism, I thought they could have made more of the Brucey-Nemo-like elements - maybe next time...
