The plot of IFailure to Launch/I is utterly implausible, yet the movie is thoroughly fun. Tripp (laid-back Matthew McConaughey, ISahara/I, IDazed and Confused/I) is a 35-year-old man who still lives with his parents (Kathy Bates, IMisery/I, and ex-quarterback Terry Bradshaw)--and they aren't happy about it. Eager to get him out of the nest, they hire Paula (ISex and the City/I's Sarah Jessica Parker), a professional motivator who feigns relationships with boy-men so that their improved self-esteem will lead them to leave the nest. But Tripp's not the usual insecure shut-in Paula's used to, and as sparks fly, Paula finds herself losing her professional distance. This sort of set-up drove classic screwball comedies of the 1930s and 40s; once you embrace the absurdity, the movie zips along with a surprising balance of humour and bittersweet shadings. IFailure to Launch/I gets a huge boost from the supporting performance of Zooey Deschanel (IElf/I) as Paula's housemate Kit--part sourpuss, part tomboy, and entirely sexy and winning. McConaughey and Parker have enjoyable chemistry and carry the movie well, but Deschanel is an oddball romantic-heroine-in-waiting. Funny
Great litttle film. I am not into these type of films at all but this was really funny. Feel good film. Would recommend.

missed the humour scale!
Something about this just bored me to tears. A stupid,selfish film which showed no regard for anyone, simply to justify what many women think about men who live at home with their parents still and haven't bothered to get into the real world. There is nothing clever or arty about this movie, it is a simple chick flick, that is all. Why would this be a funny way to pass the time? Both characters bounced off each other with a dull absurdity but I really disliked it I'm afraid.

Ahoy there me hearties
I actually quite enjoyed this film but then I was in emotional turmoil at the time I bought it - having recently been dumped it was a case of "quick, quick find a girlie film to watch before you melt down and start sobbing in the aisles" (i was in Asda at the time) so confess I just picked up this film in a blind panic. br / br /I've never really bonded with SJP but found she wasn't too bad in this film and Matthew wotshisname is so laid back that I relaxed right in - his chest is quite nice to look at and proved a valuable distraction in my time of need. br / br /It is funny in parts - silly funny though. Don't expect too much of the film and you may be suprised to find you enjoy it. It's a fluffy, lighthearted rom com and did the trick. br /

Perhaps it was a failure to lanch?
This film has its moments, but both of the main characters came across as rather annoying. Their friends however, are all quite amusing! Especially that nerd that went out with whats-her-name's flat mate, she was quite funny too. But on the whole, I just can' make my mind up about this movie... br / br /But then, perhaps modern films just fail to launch me in general? br / br /Give it a go, make up your own mind about it, I'm ceratin some people love love this film.
