After conversation with a friend about the weirdness of some Eastern movies, he lent me a box set of this series of movies. br / br /'Weird' doesn't quite sum it up. ***WEIRD!!!!!**** is maybe a bit closer. br / br /The premise: an avenging nunchuck-wielding superheroine in the tradition of Batman etc... whose uniform consists of her mask (of course), a cloak, gloves, boots, and um... well, nothing else! br / br /It's so crazy that it's hard not to love it. As superheroines go, she's certainly very easy on the eyes - but one thing spoils the series for me. She generally turns up in time to rescue schoolgirls/students in distress, who are being tortured by their insane teachers. br / br /The 'torture' is non-gory - non-violent, really - and usually just plain silly - I suspect that it's probably based on various fetishes - tickling, a hair pulled out by tweezers, that sort of thing... (I'm too innocent to know about such stuff!) but there was something about these scenes that struck me as a bit unpleasant and left a nasty taste in my mouth. br / br /Apart from that, it's just a mad romp, with some memorable lines of dialogue (which I don't think I'll include in this review.) br / br /I've also had the chance to see the animated series this was based on - it's currently selling for next to nothing. If you like it, I suspect you'll love this live action version.
