Zero Day - Zero Film
This film is basically a bland video-diary about two middle-class American Kids who have absolutely no reason to be pissed-off with their lives. No reason is given as to why they have chosen to take their course of action. Their only philosophy behind their killing-spree is that because someone in the school-corridor once took the p*** out of a T-shirt that one of the characters was wearing, then people must die. Duh? The character then states 'We just wanted to be treated as human beings'. Duuuhhh? I guess this proves true that American youngsters are wrapped up in cotton-wool. br /The viewer is constantly frustrated because no real background is given as to why these spoilt-children do what they do. br /When the film finally arrives to - after and hour of dull vid-cam diaries - the killing spree (amoklauf) then the viewer is so bored and numb, that the viewer no longer cares. br /This is a dull film which deals with a very sensitive modern subject in a very very dull manner. It is a waste of money. Avoid this film, avoid Elephant and maybe watch either Klass or Heart of America instead if you are interested in this subject on film.

When the temperature is zero degrees....
`Zero Day' is a shocking, ficticous documentary showing what drives two teenage boys, Cal and Andre, to carry out an attack on their high school with the aim to shoot and kill their fellow classmates. This film has a lot of similarities to the Columbine massacre which happened shortly before this was made and the many other school shootings that unfortunately happen every year in America. It is all filmed on a camcorder, showing the their seemingly normal everyday lives, the two's "missions" before Zero Day (the day when they are going to attack), them trying out the guns, discussing their plans and reasons for what they're doing and of course the attack itself. br / br /Although this is a work of fiction, it is so well produced, well acted and well directed that you will actually believe that this is real (if I hadn't read about this beforehand I would of thought it was real footage). So much so that I felt incredibly uncomfortable watching this. I watched this with the interest in knowing why people would ever want to do something as sickening and horrible as what these two do and I think it answered a lot of my questions - for example, rather than being influenced by films, music and video games like the media are always so quick to blame incidents like this on, Cal and Andre make this very clear that this is not the reason but it is because of being bullied and humiliated on a daily basis by their schoolmates. br / br /It is quite disturbing to watch and extremely realistic so I wouldn't watch this if you are sensitive to this kind of thing but otherwise I highly recommend seeing this as it is a very well made, low budget film. br /

Awesome film
Amazing film, eerie, very real and clever. Gives a real insight to the school shootings and a great twist on focussing on the perpatrators instead of the victims

Excellent
br /Basically, this is the way more 'adult' version of Gus Van Sant's 'Elephant'. br / br /The story- 2 kids are severely bullied in school, so they decide to get their own-back... br / br /Having watched this quite some time ago, this film has been lodged in my mind ever since. br / br /Zero Day is a cold-blooded, misunderstood little movie that's terrifying and beautiful in equal measure. br / br /
