Suprisingly good actually.The Firm UItimate Fat Burning Workout [2006]
After reading some of the reviews I decided to give this workout a go. I've never heard of The Firm until browsing on Amazon. I regularly go to the gym and have loads of excersise dvds that I workout at home with so I wasn't a notive when I got this.
I think this is a very good intermediate workout that makes you feel like you have done something rather than some celebrity dvds which don't and are disappointing.
I liked the fact that I can fit this into my busy day and that it is only 40 minutes, which is good for those days you don't have enough time for a full on workout.
I disagree with others that the instructors timing and cues are out. If you are used to cardio workouts and gym classes the prompts are fine. Alison is very pleasant and not annoying like I thought she might be. The moves both with and without weights are easy to follow and you don't stand there looking dazed trying to figure out what to do.
My only critisisms are that you don't get enough time for a quick drink and the ab work seems a bit pointless to me. Maybe I'm doing it wrong!!

Does exactly what it saysI have tried many workout dvd's but i like this on the best so far.
It really does work your whole body and I am starting to see changes - my clothes aren't tight - result!!
I would reccomend this to anyone new to exercise or not, you really feel like you've done something and the time flies.

All in all a good workoutBought this dvd a couple of months ago and have been doing in combination with several others and have lost a stone so far. Its a good workout and the pace is good , not too many repitions (which gets monotonous) but not so fast that you cant keep up. The combination of weights and cardio keeps it interesting and you can increase the weight you use as you gain strenghth, making it more challenging. All in all a good workout. If you like this one I would also recommend some of the other firm DVD's. I own several, however I enjoy the ones with this particular instructer as she is not as bland or annoying as some of the others

An Interesting WorkoutI'm a novice in home workout DVDs but this was a pretty good buy.
I decided to try it out without dumbells at first, and realised why that's a good idea! The moves can be really complicated, especially the Samba style dance moves she does. Hopefully I'll pick them up eventually. My favourite bit HAD to be the boxersize moves...really high energy and high impact.
The core workout with the weights has really benefitted my muscles...totally feel achy the next day.
As for the instructor, well I feel she could have done a better job explaining the moves. All the girls in the background are SUPER toned along with the instructor and look like they've been bodybuilding for years, which puts you off a bit.
Overall, a good combination of core workouts, stretches and dance/kickboxing moves for fat burning and toning. I'll be using this DVD alot combined with my Ministry Of Sound Pump It Up DVDs!

Misleading title but good for beginners/easy workoutI think the title of this dvd is very misleading. I was originally dissapointed as I was looking for a workout that was going to make me sweat and this one doesnt. It is for beginners.
I do however now use this dvd on days after i have had a really hard workout and am sore as it is easy but it still gets me moving. The moves are very simple so it is easy to go into autopilot and complete without thinking to much. I would recommend it only for beginners/intermediate who are looking for a traditional aerobics video.
