more of their manic grindcore insanity and its good!
the napalm death style and formula has more or less stayed the same over the years, the band havent changed their sound to impress or make new fans, each album has a more or less identical blueprint from any other napalm death album, however what we have here on order of the leech is the trademark riffs and carnage that can leave a herd of elephants on their backsides, this was the first napalm death album i heard and i was blown away by the fury and intensity that doesnt relent, they offer no remorse in their mission of leaving other metal acts eating their dust, songs like the icing on the hate, out of sight ,out of mind are particular highlights, napalm death have never thrown in nice clean vocals on a chorus to gain new praise but they dont need too, napalm death wont suit all metal lovers but those in the know realise that napalm death offer brutality that will always have a place in our dark hearts

Awesome
Order of the Leech is one heck of an album, brilliant and a standard bearer for modern extreme metal, (and metal as a whole).

Napalm death are a funny lot, their first 3 albums were a punky-jazz hybrid, poorly recorded (on purpose) with nonstop blast beats. ok if you like that sort of think, boring if not.
They then recorded 3 awesome albums, but all straight forward death metal, then 4 more melodic (some call 'sellout') and more listenable albums.

Then the trio of their 3 best ever albums : Enemy of the Music Business, The Code Is Red' and Order of the Leech
This is a brand new, revolutionary strain of metal, a mixture of death metal, their so called 'sellout' style, and their original blast to the max ferocity.
The result : fantastic songs full of face melting drumming, distorted bass, Barney's harsh as death metal but intelligible vocal style and brilliant lyrics, with a mixture of balls out thrash metal riffs and insane hyper speed grinding.

when not blast beating the drums are some of the finest in their career. The songs are ultra brutal... but catchy and memorable too.
I cannot praise this album(and its two friends)enough.
the only complaint i have is that while blast beats are used to great effect often, SOMETIMES, they can become tedious and spoil the otherwise awe inspiring music.
But the strength of songs like 'Continuing the war on stupidity' 'blows to the body' and 'per capita' more than make up for this minor grievance.

Buy this album, (and its two friends) and you'll never look back, all thats good about death metal, modern metal and grindcore in one, with very little of whats wrong with them !

Death star(s) strikes again
Though all the critics are saying this is by far the next level up from Enemy Of The Music Business (Napalm's last album), i personally think that its not.

Whilst Order Of The Leech obliterates the opposition and reaffirms Napalm Deaths place as British legends... when you listen to 'Enemy....' then this, '..... Leech' just seems VERY monotonous. Sure it has its catchy parts you'll remember, as well as the jarring riffing you'll grow fond of, it all seems a bit "nothing special".

If you're thinking of buying this album, but dont have Enemy Of The Music Business, then dont bother, go buy it before you waste your money on this.

A stunning followup to Enemy of the Music Buisness
This album is a stroke of genius, if you like your music fast, heavy and full of feeling buy this now, whether or not you've heard any Napalm Death before. Then when you've decided it's amazing go and buy Enemy of the Music Buisness, I can't decide which is better. Be warned though, you will get serious neck pain if you try to headbang to this. Amazing, go buy it now.

A Good Follow Up To The Best Album Of 2000
Napalm's 'Enemies Of The Music Business' album was indeed the best album of the year 2000 (and arguably the best of their career). After 1992's 'Utopia Banished' had set the grindcore standards for the nineties, its follow ups (especially 1996's 'Diatribes') saw a more experimental and slower side of the band. Many of the fans of the harsh, blast-beat laden cacophony they had put out previously began to ask 'is this a new direction for the band?' And in 2000 they got their answer...NOOOOOOO! 'Enemies...' was, quite simply, stunning. It was everything that grindcore should be about plus much, much more. It was exciting, intense, inventive and brutal and gave its follow up a lot to live up to.

So what of 'Order Of The Leech'? Its not as good, but don't let that put you off. This album is stuffed to breaking point with quality songwriting, the strong point of a band in which any member can write an amazing song. There's blast-beats for the purists and amazing and memorable riffs for fans of the slower Death sound, topped off with the unmistakable vocals of Barney Greenway. 'Continuing War On Stupidity' and 'Per Capita' are amongst the finest songs that the band have ever penned, and so are the obvious highlights here.

So, in short, I thoroughly recommend this album. For Napalm fans its another brilliant album from the best metal band in Britain. For those just discovering Napalm Death, its a great place to start as it showcases their sound. For me, its one of the highlights of the bands long and established career. Quality!
